desc=This software allows you to play a very strange game called Astral Stock Exchange (ASX for short). ASX is just like the real stock market, only way more fun! In this game the stars ... the shining sparks that dazzle us ... heavenly bodies ... you know, astronomical objects--are used as investment tools. Buy shares of your favorite stars and the galaxies they sit in. Prices soar with stellar formation and plummet with a nova that everyone can see.

Invest in the stars on Orion's belt (there's no galaxy there, you know). Short sell a pulsar in M31. Make a fortune on the quasar futures market, or risk astronomical sums speculating on dark matter or the debut of the cosmic background radiation.

When you join ASX you're given one thousand astro-chips to start your investment. Invest wisely and you can be be a blue-chip giant of the galaxy. Choose poorly and you'll burn out and fade away like a brown dwarf.
The theory being that a race of underground people, (a.k.a. mole men, or shrew women, or deep dwellers, depending on who you ask and how politically correct they want to be), exists somewhere below the city, and by monitoring the ground's vibrations you can detect signs of their existence. Thus far the project has discovered three small earthquakes, fifteen test explosions somewhere out in the desert, and fifty thousand subway train rides. =Skill Points=
Skill points are used to increase the power of your skills. Some skills cannot be assigned skill points, but most skills can have between 0 and 10 skill points assigned to them.

You can acquire skillpoints in 3 different ways:
*Pre-prepared skill point can be acquired and used to gain 1 skillpoint.
*Bonus skill point can be acquired and used to gain 1 skillpoint.
*Leveling up grants skillpoints at each level. 2 per level during Original Continuity. Once a Retcon occurs, additional skill points happen once per level, for each retcon.
** After 1 retcon, 3 skill points will be earned at level 2
** After 3 retcons, 3 skill points will be earned at levels 2, 3, and 4
** After 11 retcons, you gain 4 skill points at level 2 and 3 points at levels 3-11.
** Extra skill points from retcons are distributed in levels 2-11, at levels 12+ you get 2 skill points per level.

Game Manual
This page is a copy of the official game manual. For the wiki page for skills go here

Skills
Heroes start out with at least one skill, and gain more as they advance in levels. Skills come in different types: passive, combat, noncombat, and buff.

Passive skills are always active—you don't have to do anything, and you continually gain the benefit.

Combat skills can only be used in combat, and generally help heroes inflict damage, hinder their opponent, or something similar. They require Power Points (PP) to use.

Noncombat skills can be used only when you're not in combat. They can do any number of things, such as heal your hero or temporarily improve one of your abilities. They require Power Points (PP) to use.

Buffs are also noncombat spells, but they can be cast on other players as well as yourself. They require Power Points (PP) to use.

Skill Points
Skill points let players improve skills. Each skill starts at 0 and can have up to 10 skill points invested in it. Players earn skill points when they level up, and may obtain skill points by other methods.

For buffs, only the skill points of the buff TARGET count. That is, if a player with 10 points invested in a buff casts it on you and you don't know the skill at all or don't have skill points invested, you will receive the skill at the base effectiveness. In other words, skill points represent the player's mastery of the skill -- no points, no mastery. On the reverse, if a player with 0 skill points casts a buff on you and you have 5 points invested, you receive the buff at the 5-point level. In this case, it doesn't matter how inexperienced the other player is, your mastery still carries through.

Skills by Class
Each class skill is listed below, along with its effect. Equations are given to explain how invested skill points will affect the ability. Equations have an X to denote a multiple of the number of current skill points invested. They also list a Max: line just to simplify what the value of a maxed-out skill would look like.

Damage spells with caps can have "hard caps" (absolute limit) or "soft caps" (point at which damage becomes lessened by some factor).

I was awarded access to the Heirloom Tomato after completion of my sixth heirloom run. That seems like a strange number of runs to be the trigger so maybe it has something to do with the amount of mettle earned. I earned a total of 93 mettle, but 12 of them were "bonus" mettle. --‡ Trog ‡ (talk) 13:41, 24 February 2014 (PST)
I still don't have it unlocked after 8 heirloom runs, and my highest mettle was 21 (max possible for an heirloom run). Is it possibly related to the item being taken, I usually take the same item so my item variety is low? Also, what is your in game name? I looked up trog and all 3 results have 0 retcons. My retcon items are: Boomstick x6, Paradox Naught x1, Midnight's Cloak x1. Another idea I have is maybe you need to take an item from noctua shop as an heiroom? but I already took the midnight's cloak. Its probably not taking the carrot or it would be noticed by whomever did it. I will try to add some variety --Taltamir (talk) 00:00, 30 July 2018 (PDT)
It showed up on my 22nd run, which was my 10th heirloom run. Which was where my number of unique heirloom items used has reached 5, and was my second max mettle (21) heirloom run.

Taltamirhttp://th.blandsauce.com/wiki/index.php?title=Talk:Nocturne%27s_Shop&diff=68277Talk:Nocturne's Shop2018-07-30T06:30:46Z
Taltamir: /* Details column */

Hey guys, the 3 items here (Shadow Mist's Iron Scythe, Captain Nocturnal's Serpent Skin Pants, Pawn of Destruction) are what appeared for me after my first retcon run with a 12-mettle Naturalist (no food or sidekick restrictions, 5 pulls/day, no skills). I guess we can't say for sure what unlocked what, although it seems likely that the scythe and pants are class-related. :Yeah, I guess the knight is for 4 runs (or 5 as you say, but we're not counting the first). Odd that there is not necessarily a 3rd run reward. *I just double checked and... doesn't it already differ from the game by actually having unlock requirement listed? Also, if we are trying to duplicate the game then the columns need to be shuffled.
3 points:

You play the flight simulator for a while. A wild and crazy dogfight ensues where you shoot everyone out of the sky. Yes, even yourself. It's tricky, but with some effort you pull it off. You gain 1 Reflex point.

You play the flight simulator for a while. You spend the time working on precision flying. Eventually you learn how to buzz so close to the flight tower you can hear the controllers inside shout "Maverick!" You gain 1 Reflex point.

5 points:

You play the flight simulator for a while. Initially you're doing pretty well, but then one of your opponents shoots you out of the sky. It's frustrating, but it teaches you a thing or two about strategy. You gain 1 Intellect point.

6-8 points:
You play the flight simulator for a while. You zip through the skies like a bird. And not one of those pathetic flightless birds, either. You gain (10-16)*Level XP.
Somehow you manage to open a bonus round with a chance to win a prize. After ten minutes of shooting like crazy, it turns out the prize is a can of energy drink, cross-promoted between the game maker and a beverage company.

3 points:

You play the empire strategy game for a while. Using the time allotted you managed to set up a railroad monopoly which uses its empty cars to give settlers roller-coaster rides as you take them along the old Oregon Trail. That's what we call thinking outside the box. You gain 1 Intellect point.

You play the empire strategy game for a while. You spend the time managing several construction projects, which mostly means running back and forth between disasters. That takes quite a bit of stamina! You gain 1 Strength point.

6-8 points:

You play the empire strategy game for a while. You build your own little city of Virtual Rome, and then while you're there you do as Virtual Romans do. You gain (10-16)*Level XP.

When crossing a 25 points multiple, up to 250, you will advance to the next Empire Bracket:

You just hit Empire Bracket N!

When you're done, the store manager pulls you aside and says, "You don't know this, but we've been tying your game performance to real-world stock market. You just made our company 1,750,000-2,490,000 chips! As as sign of appreciation, we'd like to give you a cut as commission." The manager hands you an envelope.

Inside is 175-249 chips. That's a lame commission, you think, but it's better than nothing. (The amount gained is 1/10000 of the amount you made for the company. Cheap bastards.)

4 points:

You play the virtual sports game for a while. Looking for something different, you enter a virtual "World's Strongest Hero" competition. There's a lot of grunting involved, meaning you gain 1 Strength point.

5 points:

You play the virtual sports game for a while. You load the ping-pong program. For a real challenge, you play two different opponents at once. You gain 1 Reflex point.

6-8 points:

You play the virtual sports game for a while. You play a speed round of golf and then try out curling. Someone tries to tell you neither of those are sports, but you don't listen to them. You gain (10-16)*Level XP.

When crossing a 25 points multiple, up to 250, you will advance to the next Sports Bracket:

You just hit Sports Bracket N!

Surprisingly, you just got the high score in the game. As a prize, you're given a bottle of energy drink to help you properly rehydrate after your intense effort.

You get an item: Scalpel energy drink.
Back to Quests
Walkthrough
0. The quest starts under the name Can't Put a Price on Heroism. You get the following journal message:

You may want to do a little more exploring, to get to know more of your neighborhood. Maybe checking out the shops in the Galleria would be a good way to start to feel your way around more locations?

1. Visiting The Galleria shops for the first time, you get the following:

You take a stroll through the galleria shops down at the corner. It's late and most of them are closed, but a few, like a music store and bookstore, are still doing active business. Frankly you're surprised that this area is so quiet and peaceful. There aren't many places in the city like this.

On a whim you pop into one of the shops at random and poke around a little. Even crimefighters need a little breather now and then, right? You say hi to the shop owner and he returns your greeting. Just making conversation, you comment on the pleasant, peaceful nature of this little corner of the neighborhood. Strangely, the shopkeeper turns pale and starts stammering, "Wha-what do you mean? I don't know what you're talking about."

Weird. "I was just thinking you guys must do a really good job with security around here, to have all these shops open this late and not locked down like a fort. It's nice."

The owner continues to stammer awkwardly, and then squints his eyes at you. "Are-are you the new collector?" he asks.

"Huh? No. I mean, I don't know what you're asking. What kind of collector?"

The guy clams up, fast. "Oh, nothing. Nevermind." He refuses to say more about it, and eventually you leave. Something's very fishy, though.

This will yield change the quest name to Trouble in the Galleria and add the following message to your journal:

There's something fishy going on in the Galleria shops--it's weirdly quiet and the shop owners seem timid. Besides the stores, the only other night life in that area is at the Cannonball Tavern. Maybe you can pick up some clues there?

Or, if you are still level 1:

There's something fishy going on in the Galleria shops--it's weirdly quiet and the shop owners seem timid. Besides the stores, the only other night life in that area is at the Cannonball Tavern. Maybe you can pick up some clues there? Be careful, though. The roughs that hang out in that bar might be tougher than you are.

2. Patrol the Cannonball Tavern until you get To the Rescue, and the following message to your journal:

After rescuing Melody you're now very certain that something sinister is going on around the Galleria shops. If what she says is true, the guy who owns Jax 'Za pizza parlor might be responsible. You'll need more information, either from the pizza place or from the Galleria.

3. Visit The Galleria shops again to get:

You step into the galleria bookstore and browse for a bit. There's a visiting author reading excerpts from a children's book called Pickle and Onion and kids are running everywhere. On your way out one of the employees pulls you aside to an isolated corner. In a hushed voice he says, "Hey, I'm Bob, the store owner. I heard about how you rescued Melody from Jack's goons. A lot of people are afraid that might make things worse, but I think we've needed someone like you for a long time."

"What can you tell me?" you ask.

"Unfortunately, not a whole lot. The thugs do most of the dirty work, but it's common knowledge that the guy who owns the pizza place is ultimately in charge."

"You mean Jack?" you ask.

He nods. "Yeah. Jack. Big J, some people call him. I think those are just nicknames, though. I've never met the guy, but the neighborhood business association has him listed as John Steele."

"What else?"

Bob spreads his hands. "That's about it. You're going to have to find out the rest on your own. Come back if you learn anything else. I'll help if I can, but I'm no hero; I've got a wife and kids, and a good business."

You nod in understanding and head back out to the street.

This will give the following message to your journal:

Melody and Bob have confirmed that the owner of the pizza place, John Steele, more commonly known as Big J. or Jack, seems to be responsible for neighborhood extortion. It's up to you to track down more evidence. Besides the stores, the only other night life in that area is at the Cannonball Tavern. Maybe you can pick up some more clues there?

Visit [The Galleria shops]] again and it'll displays:

You visit the bookstore and have another chat with the owner. Bob says, "I've been thinking about Jack, and I've got an idea. Jack's never around during the day, and his goons won't let you in with a weapon at night. But I bet I could sneak a small weapon into the bathroom of the restaurant during the day. Something small and completely waterproof. I could hide it in the toilet reservoir. If you can get past the guards, you could go into the bathroom and pick up the weapon."

You both agree that sounds like a good plan, but when you look over your inventory you can't find anything that seems to fit the bill.

This will give the following message to your journal:

You've seen enough to feel confident that the owner of the pizza place, John Steele, more commonly known as Big J. or Jack, is responsible for some sort of neighborhood extortion. The owner of Bob's Bookstore has offered his assistance in sneaking a weapon into the bathroom of Jax 'Za. Now you've just got to find something suitable.

The next times you visit [The Galleria shops]] it'll display one off:

On the way through the galleria you stop to help a man who trips and falls nearly in front of you. As you help him to his feet, alcohol fumes wash over you--he's clearly three sheets to the wind, maybe four or five sheets even.

"I've seen the man you're looking for", he slurs. "Big J. Huge. Prolly eight feet tall. With a big, hollow laugh. You better watch out, or you just might find him." Then the man staggers away without so much as a thanks.

:or

You stop by the bookstore and say hi to the owner. He checks to see if you've got anything that might be useful to use against Jack, but the two of you can't think of anything.

4.At this point you can go directly to step 6, or do the following non-mandatory steps to ease advancement: Patrol the Cannonball Tavern again until you get steel knuckles from one of two ways
* A Noggin Scratcher which will occur after many turns spent there to give you the steel knuckles.
* Shall We Play A Game? - a choice adventure, choose "Look around a little harder for a fight", win the fight and get lucky with the drop chance.

Getting the Steel Knuckles puts the following message in your journal:

You've seen enough to feel confident that the owner of the pizza place, John Steele, more commonly known as Big J. or Jack, is responsible for some sort of neighborhood extortion. The owner of Bob's Bookstore has offered his assistance in sneaking a weapon into the bathroom of Jax 'Za. You picked up some steel knuckles from the Cannonball that would probably work. Maybe you should go see Bob again?

5. visit The Galleria shops again to get:

You visit the bookstore and have another chat with the owner. Bob says, "I've been thinking about Jack, and I've got an idea. Jack's never around during the day, and his goons won't let you in with a weapon at night. But I bet I could sneak a small weapon into the bathroom of the restaurant during the day. Something small and completely waterproof. I could hide it in the toilet reservoir. If you can get past the guards, you could go into the bathroom and pick up the weapon."

The bookstore owner looks over your collection of weapons. "Hmm," he says, fingering the steel knuckles, "I think these might work. I'll sneak them over as soon as I can." He takes your steel knuckles and tucks them in a pocket as you head back out into the street.

This will change the journal message to:

You've seen enough to feel confident that the owner of the pizza place, John Steele, more commonly known as Big J. or Jack, is responsible for some sort of neighborhood extortion, and it's time to teach him a lesson. Bob already took the steel knuckles from you and hid them in the pizza parlor bathroom. All you have to do is get in there after the shop is closed for the night.

6. After 11:05, un-equip your weapon, go to Jax 'Za and enter
John Steele
in the box. You can then either "Visit the Bathroom" first, and then "Go to the Office", which yields very dazed John Steele or go directly to office which yields the much tougher Big Bad John Steele. Defeat him to get the following message in your journal:

You have had your showdown with John Steele and taught him a lesson. The Galleria shops ought to be free from his meddling now. You probably ought to let Rand know what you've been up to, and see if he can have Steele arrested.

'Or, if you haven't finished the Like a Super Neighbor quest yet:

You have had your showdown with John Steele and taught him a lesson. The Galleria shops ought to be free from his meddling now. If you ever make friends with anyone in the police department, it might be a good topic of conversation. In the meantime, maybe you ought to follow up on your hunches in the Like a Super Neighbor entry above. Hint, hint.

7. Visit the Twilight Police Department to conclude the quest and talk to Rand:

You catch Rand at the office and fill him in on your exploits regarding John Steele and the Galleria shops. He congratulates you on your good work but doesn't seem nearly as excited about the experience as you are. When you ask if he can arrest Steele, Rand just shakes his head. "Fraid not, kid. I'm glad you showed him up, but you don't have anything you can use as legal evidence. I'm sure he was guilty, but in a legal sense you don't have any reliable proof. In fact, if he wanted to, he could probably sue you for assault, and you'd be the bad guy in the case."

"Really?" you ask. "I hadn't even thought about that."

Rand nods. "Yeah, you've got to be careful, or you're going to end up making as many enemies with the law enforcers as with the criminals."

You say, "But at least that neighborhood is safe now, right?"

Rand snorts, and starts to laugh, until he realizes you were being serious. "For a few days, maybe. But Steele's just a small fry. Some guy running extortion in a few blocks of a small neighborhood? He may have been pretty efficient at keeping things quiet, but there isn't a fraction of a chance that he could have held the neighborhood if someone above him hadn't let him keep the territory. There's a crime syndicate that controls most of the city. Steele isn't even a bit player in that organization. He's a flea that lives on a rat that eats the crumbs that the syndicate drops now and then. There's a dozen parasites just like him living on your city block, waiting to take his place."

"Huh. Wow. I hadn't even thought about that. So the whole thing was basically pointless?"

"Aww, don't be too hard on yourself, kid. You did a good thing. A bunch of people are better off than they used to be. That's not a bad start at all."

The following message is added to the Completed Quests section of your journal:

You successfully tracked down a local criminal, John Steele, and taught him a lesson. The good news is that neighborhood is free of him. The bad news is you've come to realize he was just one extremely small extension of an extremely large crime syndicate.

Introduction
Sugar is one of the three consumables in Twilight Heroes, the others being Caffeine and Vegetable. Consuming sugar increases your Bedtime, allowing you more time to play.

Using sugar after casting Sugar Purifier increases the time gained by 20% + 3S%, where S is the number of SkillPoints invested into the skill. For each item consumed, 15 minutes of the effect are removed, and the following line is added after the use message:
:The sugar purifier makes the sweet intensely sugary.

Each sugar item has a size in "units" of sugar. You can consume 6 such units per day. Trying to consume more will get you the message:
: Ugh. You don't feel very good right now. You don't even want to think about eating any more candy today. Maybe not until next month, even.

Trying to multi-use too much sugar will get you the message:
:That's way more candy than you should eat in one night. You're old enough to know better than than to even consider that much sugar. Yuck.

Trying to multi-use sugar when you are under diet restrictions gets you the message:
:You have opted to go without sugar this run, so you can't have that. Sorry, no cheating on the diet.
Notes
* It is hard to compare items which consume contain both sugar and caffeine to items that contain only one of them. The values used in the table above assume that each caffeine unit yields 17.5 minutes, such as the amount given by Mister Tea and other standard caffeine items. Other useful comparisons might be:
Caffeine yield/unit !! Sugar yield/unit
17.5 (e.g. Mister Tea) ||
18 (e.g. oil can coffee) ||
* The sugar mechanic was introduced during Halloween 2008.

Back to Quests

1. This quest starts after concluding the Protests Aren't for Amateurs quest. You get the following journal message:

You've heard about a mysterious character named The Mick who seems to be responsible for a series of crimes, particularly the riots at the university. You don't have any other leads at the moment, but it wouldn't surprise you if sometime in the future your paths cross again. For now, all you can do is wait until The Mick makes another move.

2. The next step is only available once you reach level 11 and finish all the quests related to lower levels. Visiting Rand you get:

It was just a quick visit to see Rand. So quick in fact your understudy, <sidekick name>, decided to stay behind in the car, because the police station always made it nervous. You return just a few minutes later to find <sidekick name> missing, and a note stuck to the windshield of your vehicle.

The note reads, "We have your friend. Stop all your silly superhero antics now, or you'll never see it again." Weirdly, the note is printed on corporate letterhead. Some place called NCI Live, with an address out in the Hyde Park part of town. There's a big, fancy M stamped at the bottom. Not having any other enemies at large with that initial, you've got to guess it's the Mick's sigil.

The journal message changes to:

What are you doing here? Your sidekick was just kidnapped by the Mick! You should be talking to Rand about this.

3. Clicking "Continue", or otherwise visiting Rand again, you get:

You bring the note back in to Rand, who asks a tech to pull up the cameras for the station parking lot. It only takes a minute to replay the action. A man in a suit approaches your understudy, apparently asking a question, then whips out a tazer and applies it with powerful effect. A large van pulls up immediately afterward, a number of men get out, load up your understudy, and drive off.

Rand says, "We've traced the license plate on the van. It's owned by the NCI Live corporation, which matches the letterhead on the paper. We've always suspected that place is pretty shady, with probable connections to the criminal underground. It's under surveillance, but we've never had a strong enough lead to go there. Still, it seems like they're being way too obvious about this. You know it's got to be a trap."

The journal message changes to:

The Mick's got your sidekick held hostage in the NCI Live building. You're going to have to work your way through the deathtrap maze to perform a daring rescue.

This also opens NCI Live building.

4. Fight your way in NCI Live building.
Please note that the guide below is using the classic NCI building appearance and room numbering system, as shown above.

* Adventure in room 26 until you defeat 4 ultimate security guards.
:* Alternatively, equip motorcycle, tri-cycle or vicious cycle before entering and skip the room. This will destroy your motorcycle, so make sure you using the cheapest version and that you have purchased a spare mode of transportation before doing this.
* Adventure towards room 31 (path: 26 -> 27 -> 28 -> 29 -> 34 -> 33 -> 32 -> 31)
** You need super jumping to reach room 34. The easiest to acquire is probably High-jump boots.
** You need a combat paperclip before entering room 31, which can randomly drop in any of the available rooms before clicking on room 31. If you do not acquire one by the time you reach room 31, then use room 35 repeatedly until you acquire one from intimidating janitor or CEO's secretary. Entering room 31 with a combat paperclip will unlock room 23
* Adventure towards room 11 (path: 23 -> 24 -> 25 -> 20 -> 19 -> 14 -> 13 -> 12 -> 11)
** Room 24 requires you to defeat 7 office hoplites followed by Leon Idas. If you have 2 or 3 sources of madness then each hoplite you defeat counts as two, if you have 4+ madness you will immediately skip to fighting Leon Idas.
* Adventure towards room 16 (path: 18 -> 17 -> 16)
* Adventure towards room 3 (path: 6 -> 7 -> 8 -> 9 -> 10 -> 5 -> 4 -> 3)
** Room 8 requires you to defeat 6 office frontiersmans and David C. Rockett. Adventure once more to get Big Adventure
** Room 3 contains your sidekick. The journal message changes to:

You've rescued your understudy from the NCI Live building. Reportedly the Mick himself is in the next room. Go get him!

5. Adventure in room 2 and defeat The Mick. The journal message changes to:

You've actually defeated the Mick. About time! There's one room left in the building, though. Maybe it's a treasure room. Or possibly a trap. Who knows?

6. Go into room 1. The journal message changes to:

Well, it seems a large chunk of Twilight city was just blown up, and now there's another mysterious, shadowy figure behind the scenes. Better talk to Rand about your next steps.

This closes NCI Live building and opens Vincile building.

7. Visit Rand. You get:

Rand is surprisingly sympathetic, despite all the damage done. Maybe he's just glad you survived the blast. "That's some tough luck, kid. You did your best, and it was pretty good. I know you're kicking yourself and saying it's good but not good enough, but you couldn't know the whole building was rigged to blow, and this is the first time any of us have heard there might be someone behind the Mick. You're just lucky to still be alive, and able to keep fighting."

The consolation speech goes on for a while, and just gets more painful. You know Rand means well, and eventually thank him and leave. Exhausted, confused, frustrated; alive but feeling defeated, you drag yourself back into the night.

You're not really sure what to do right now, or even what's worth doing. The only clue you even have is a shadowy silhouette; the only loose end that gadget you took from the Mick's suit. Maybe Susan would be able to tell you something about it.

The journal message changes. The quest name changes to:

Age of Destruction, in a World of Corruption

The journal message is:

You've defeated the Mick, but at the cost of having a chunk of the city destroyed, and nearly getting killed yourself. You don't have any real leads, except for a strange trimensional cortex pulled from the Mick's exosuit. Susan seems like the best person to talk to.

At this point you get access to your understudy again.

8. Visiting Susan, you get:

You show Susan the gadget you took from the Mick's exosuit. "Oh, sure, I recognize this. It's a direct extension of the Elco Hoist research. We combined tritanium with the nostronomium from the dimensional gate to make this trimensional cortex. It's not just di-mensional, like another location, but tri-mensional, meaning it has time-affecting properties. From what you say it should have made his mechanical suit exceptionally quick. But that's nothing compared to what we could do with a greater source of power. Something like ... your talisman! If we combined them, we could create some kind of machine that would probably allow you to return entirely to the talisman's chronological origins now."

Susan mouths those words to herself again. "Yes, a R.E.T.C.O.N. device, that's about right. It would be entirely unproven, of course. Completely experimental. But it might just work! We could get you back to the other side of a time window, right when all the craziness was just beginning. You'd have another shot to make things right, if you wanted!"

typoOf course it's a tremendous risk. It could kill you, or unravel time itself (though that's unlikely, I hope). I'd understand if you aren't sure or need to give it some thought. Why don't I go ahead and give you the machinery to install in your hideout, and if at any time you're ready to try it, it will be waiting for you?"

Susan is surprisingly efficient in setting up what basically looks like a mechanical doorway, with the trimensional core as a centerpiece at top, perched about where you'd hang a lucky horseshoe. You take the device back to your hideout and set it in an empty corner. It waits there, dark and ominous, the cortex pulsing slightly in the shadows.

The journal messages changes to:
Susan has created a R.E.T.C.O.N. device, installed in your hideout, which she thinks you could use to go back in time and try to prevent the destruction, if you want to take that risk. You can also just stick around Twilight and try to make the best of the current situation. Your choice.

This removes the trimensional cortex from your inventory, installs the R.E.T.C.O.N. Device in your Workbench at your Hideout, and effectively ends the quest.

You can also just stick around Twilight and try to make the best of the current situation. Your choice.
