triangle triptych
Plural: triangle triptychs
Technically a triptych should have three separate pieces, but in this case three separate scenes are painted onto the shield. The one on the left depicts a small dot, the one on the right depicts a degraded person, and the one in the middle is an artist's rendition of the whole universe. Weird stuff.
You certainly hope that this shield's reputation is true. Reportedly in a fight, triangle always wins.
