paradox knot
Plural: Unknown
If you know your Greek mythology, you'll realize the paradox of the Gordian knot was that it held the sword of Damocles above your head despite the fact that Damocles wasn't really his name; it was Ventricles instead. In a weird twist of fate only that sword was able to cut the knot that held it, but you needed to free the knot to wield the sword, and wield the sword to free the knot, which is a real catch-22-chickens-and-eggs scenario of a different color.
