fire newt

You are fighting a fire newt.

You'd think something like a flaming lizard made out of lava would be worth describing, and it probably is, but your vocabulary for that sort of thing is surprisingly limited. So it's a newt, made out of firey rock, and that's about all there is to say.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • The fire newt spits flaming phlegm which covers you in a fulminating film. You flom yourself in the flume trying to fleem away the flim-flam. Got that? Flime. (fire) damage
  • The newt attacks you and mostly misses. Mostly. Which is of course partly not missing. (fire) damage
  • The newt gloms the suckers from its fingertips onto your face and pulls. It's not all that different from having an octopus grip your face in the same manner. Which is to say, painful. (fire) damage

It hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! It hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • The little critter tries to get its vicious newt on, but you say no to fruit and cake.
  • Somehow it turns you into a creature just like itself. You get better.
  • The newt tries to claw you, but it's got suckers instead of claws, and they don't do much.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! It takes X damage.

Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!

You gain <scaling, max 400> experience.
