gold star
Plural: gold stars
Sometimes, it's not so much what we can do, but what we're given credit for being able to do that makes all the difference, and that's exactly what this gold star takes advantage of. Just like an American general, each star pinned to your suit grants an increase in rank. When you think about it, you're still the same hero on the inside with or without the decoration, but in the minds of your opponents you're considerably more effective. And if they think that's true, then for all intents and purposes it is.
