Roderick Stone, a.k.a. Stone Man, was a guardian of Twilight years ago. He disappeared when you were still young. You don't really remember the details, but the circumstances were mysterious, you seem to recall. These boots used to belong to him, and some of his aura clings to them still.
Now that you think of it, what could possibly dispose of a man made of stone? You wonder if it was some super villain who might still be out there, or if the poor guy maybe just got kidnapped by some sort of illicit gravel mining operation.
