Aegis Flux Incapacitor
Plural: Aegis Flux Incapacitors
Great Scott! It's like this thing was pushed forward into the past from some dystopian future where they've stopped holding sporting events because everyone knows who's going to win anyway, and now the forces of chaos and order hang in the balance.

In small print on the inside of the shield it says "Aegis Protection Corporation is a subdivision of Bregna Industries. Aegis Corporation: now with less ligature!"

Somerset Square

Other Uses

  • Sometimes grants combat skills when it is equipped:
  • Fire Blast from Aegis shield (5 PP)
You release a blast of powerful heat from the surface of your shield. Biff! It burns your foe for X damage.
  • Electric Blast from Aegis shield (5 PP)
A storm of electric bolts fly from the surface of your shield and zap your foe for X.21 gigawatts of damage.
  • Sonic Blast from Aegis shield (5 PP)
Your shield begins to vibrate, starting at a low hum and rising to a piercing scream, something like a buzz saw, or a wounded soldier, or a teddy bear. Sheltered behind the shield you're only slightly discomforted, but it rattles your foe with X damage.

Notes

  • If the shield is worn for two consecutive turns it is "charged" and the combat skills are made available. They remain available until used or until the shield is unequipped.
  • Unequipping the shield discharges it as well as logging out. Rollover also discharges the shield.

References

  • The first part of the item description is a reference to the movie Back to the Future Part II, although the Flux Capacitor (with its distinctive triune tubes duplicated on the item image) first appears in the first Back to the Future movie. "X.21 gigawatts" and "Biff" are also references to the same movies.
  • Aegis is a mythological shield.
  • Bregna is a country in the anime Æon Flux.
