Specifically adding hit messages is a total mess. I suggest the following simplification. hit1=, hit2=, hit3=. It's much easier to leave the formatting to the writer then to try to anticipate any formatting possible. I suggest that I add these to the template without removing the previous ones for backward compatibility. I'm also going to make many of the fields mandatory i.e. page marked incomplete without them.
