:Gah. Should have expected stuff like this to happen. When I made the patrol template, I made it set the image to 150px in width to make them uniform with the game (if you look carefully, you'll see :File:Somerset.jpg stretched a little in both), as all the others are like that. I might be able to tweak the template so that you could add another parameter that defaults to 150, but allows the user to enter the width as well. --hoyifung04 18:38, 23 September 2011 (PDT)

Semi-rares are rare items that fall between the rarity of Ultra-rare items and normal items. They tend to be in Color. Like ultra-rare items, they have no step counters or other tricks; they are just reasonably rare.

Semi-rares can either be a rare drop from a foe, a rare adventure, or a rare choice option of an adventure. Once all the requirements for a semi-rare event have been met, the chance of the event occurring is the same for all semi-rares.

There are currently 6 known semi-rare items:

* Rare drops:
** corrupt amulet from brutish man in Rooftops of downtown.
** special wooden cup from pitch-black knight, a choice of Glove Slap, Baby in Guild for Imaginative Metachronism.
** The 'Swift and ...' trilogy from pier security guard in The Docks.
* Rare adventures:
** Hey, Hey! Free Loot! in Byzantine Interior of the Unborn Base, a choice between:
*** pseudo-chitin armor
*** ion beamer
* Rare choice:
** pegasus, a rare choice from Two Paths Diverged in a Prehistoric Wood in Triassic Park and Bestiary. Available only between 1am and 6am, game time.
Notes
* The name "semi-rare" was mentioned by Ryme, most probably after the name being used in Kingdom of Loathing. However, Ryme also mentioned there is no special mechanism involved, just a flat chance.
* The semi-rare chance is unknown at this point. However, it is believed to be no higher than 1%.
* There might be some requirements which have not been discovered yet.

Here is the song stuff before and after combats:
Because your day is night alone, and you feel like letting go, your axe bursts into the music for Brainwave's "Everyvillain Hurts." So hold on, hold on, because every villain hurts, sometimes ... You hear the first few notes of Jen Melonball's "Hurts So Bad" coming from the axe, but sometimes a fight ends like it should, so you put the brakes on the instrument.

At the start of the fight your axe rips into the Gregarious Undead's "Friend of the Hero." It sets out runnin but it takes its time, while your sidekick sings the lines: "If I stop crime before daylight, I just might find some peeeeeace toniiii-ight."
As the fight wraps up your axe tries to carry on over to a more mellow "I've Got a Friend" by Tames Jailor, but winter, spring, summer, or fall, it's not loud enough to keep you going in a fight so you skip the tune.

Your axe kicks off a rendition of "Money for Nothing and Your Chips for Free." That's the way you do it, you play the hero on the Twilight street. Wailin' on the villains like a chimpanzee.
Somewhere in mid-fight the song must have ended, because now you're hearing the final notes of the classic "Hero You're a Rich Man" from the Beatless. How does it feel? It feels good, actually.

Like a distant smokestack on the horizon, your axe strums the muffled, uneasy notes of Purple Flynn's "Uncomfortably Numb." Your opponent asks you to show them where it hurts, and you wisely refuse-that'll make it harder for them to hurt you. (no aftercombat message)

Your axe plays the Atlantis Morrisey tune "Hand in Their Pocket" for the duration of the encounter. You're broke and you're not happy, you're poor and you mind. Put your hand in their pocket, and see what you find. What it all comes down to, is that everything's gonna be quite alright, because you've got one hand in their pocket, and the other hand is stuffing loot in your backpack.
As the fight wraps up your instrument hits a few notes from another song you recognize but can't remember the name. But you're reassured to hear "You want it all but you can have it" in the background.

Like poetry in music, with a flash of harmony, your axe begins to play "She Blinded Me with Violence" from Einstein-Bose Condensate. Your opponent had better look out, or you'll blind them with violence, and stun them with this machinery. (no aftercombat message)

You feel a hot wind on your elbow, as you face this nasty fellow. You hear the walking of the villain, crime gives you that funny feelin'. Your axe is playin' - whoah - "Twilight Radio," by Ball of Hoodoo.
It must be two-song Tuesday because your combat ends the double set with a rendition of "Man It's So Loud Out Here" by He's No Cyclops.

Also occassionally gives the choice to Go: There will be Trouble or Stay: It will be double against a foe.
Going gave me 100 xp, and took 8 hp at level 47 versus a clockwork beetle
Staying added 21 xp (42 FT) against several different foes, and made it much more difficult

Also occassionally gives the choice to Go: There will be Trouble or Stay: It will be double.
Going gave me 100 xp, and took 8 hp at level 47 versus a clockwork beetle
|desc=The slouch has a long history in military circles, evolving out of floppy felt hats from the 18th century. It's a soft hat where you can pin up one side of the brim so that you can easily march with a rifle over your shoulder. Neat, huh?

This particular slouch looks like the mutant hybrid of a stage magician's tophat and an Australian bush hat. Little quivers of power emanate from it. Perhaps it actually is such a hybrid. You feel a little silly wearing it and have a powerful urge to reach inside and see what you can pull out. I guess you've done stranger things.

The slouch currently appears to be full of mystical energy.
It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and suddenly you get a wild hair that distracts you for ten minutes until you completely forget that you were trying to empty the slouch.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out one last rabbit. It's tall, gangly, and pure white, and it tries to steal your cereal. When you stop it, it runs away in frustration.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and produce a large hare dressed in military uniform. He proceeds to march around your hideout, doing drills, until you open the door and he marches away.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... what you find is the horrific, cursed were-rabbit. Wait, on closer inspection it's Welsh rarebit. You always get those two mixed up. You dispose of the rarebit in the most delicious fashion possible.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and find yourself holding on to the bumper of a small car from the '70s. Some kind of "Folksvagon," the decal says. It's too heavy to pull out, and you're not sure about alternate dimension vehicles, so you leave it where it is.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... out climbs an older, bearded man wearing a small skullcap. He nods at you, says "Shalom," and departs.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out a pink drummer bunny. It drums and drums and just won't stop drumming, so you put it back and call it a day.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... out hops an albino bunny, which quickly hides in the most shadowy corner of the room. You never see the bunny again, but for weeks afterward you keep finding strange white vegetables mixed in with the normal ones in your fridge.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and out hops a young woman in a bathing suit, wearing bunny ears. This is a PG game, so Ryme comes by and offers to escort the lady home. Trust me, it's for your own good. Totally.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... you pull out a small coney. It says it can't stay because it needs to go to an island to see about a dog.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... a rabbit runs up your arm, around the room, and out an open window. The rabbit runs so fast you'd think the witch-hounds of Eastwick were after it.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out a very badly drawn rabbit who seems to want to play patty-cake. You don't have time for that right now, and ask her to leave.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... all you find is an old, bent TV antenna. You've got cable, so it's no good to you.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out a ... jackalope? At least that's what you'd call an animal that's half jackal and have antelope, and which seems to be trying to chase and eat itself. Thankfully you can get it outside before it completely destroys your hideout.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out a bowl of lettuce. Rabbit food, but no rabbit.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... you get a small psychic rabbit. It takes one look at you, goes into a fit of doom and gloom, and runs away, with a small herd of other rabbits following it.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out a talking briar rabbit. It's got a really heavy accent so it's hard to follow what it's saying, but it sounds somewhat politically incorrect. Due to the awkward embarrassment you encourage it to leave.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pluck out what at first appears to be a normal rabbit. Except it's making clucking noises, and starts laying little chocolate eggs. Well, they're egg-shaped, and they don't smell funny, but you're not about to test. Even if it is chocolate, think about where it came from! While you're cleaning up the eggs, the rabbit wanders off.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and find yourself holding a sleeping hare. You don't want to startle it, so you gently set it down on a soft pillow. While you're doing that a tortoise creeps out of the bag, lets out a little testudinal chuckle, and plods on its way.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... what you find is a twisted alien rabbit which takes you forward in time for a while, but then changes its mind and sends you right back to where everything started. Which is right now.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out a talking rabbit. He apparently thinks you're a doctor, because he tries to ask you about this rash. It really bugs you when people do that, so you shoo the bunny away for being so rascally.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... and pull out one very late rabbit. He looks at his pocketwatch, sighs, and hops away quickly.

or

It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... what you get is a framed picture of a rabbit, sloppily etched with the name Roger. It's a nice picture, but a lousy frame job, so you toss it back.
:: I just got it yesterday, so if it was something I'd just qualified for, it had to come between Levels 7 and 8. All the journal-y stuff I did between those times -- unlocked the Zion's Tears building, A Familiar Figure, Demiurge defeated in around an hour and 18 minutes from the first thing to the last. I don't know it it tracks stuff from earlier runs, but that particular sequence seems pretty quick to me. I guess the badge could be set up by holding off on John Steele, counsel Harry, and the Bard... and if they weren't enough, wait to do each of those until immediately after finishing a fourth quest. --Jesus 23:08, 21 February 2011 (PST)
It looks like there's one more item down at the bottom. You reach way in there ... you get a small psychic rabbit. It takes one look at you, goes into a fit of doom and gloom, and runs away, with a small herd of other rabbits following it.
It's got a really heavy accent so it's hard to follow what it's saying, but it sounds somewhat politically incorrect. Due to the awkward embarrassment you encourage it to leave.

It really bugs you when people do that, so you shoo the bunny away for being so rascally.

or
::Why would it involve the rooftops? Cristiona

I had two ideas on how this could be made faster: either using +FT or using lassoes to fight more 'higher ranking'foes - the matarkhis and archons are 'officers', while the lokhar is a mere foot soldier. However, it looks like t archon cannot be lassoed, although the matarkhis can so...Worth testing I think. Alternatively, one could try to fight more archons using smoke bombs, or the 'trick' you mention(the red-eye one I assume) Edivad 02:58, 30 November 2010 (PST)
: I truly hope this isn't like the mob instigator thing, where you have to fight N archons before it appears. Major RNG screwage potential. Though that would be the obvious thing, with the mob not voodooable. --Muhandes 04:30, 30 November 2010 (PST)
:: I tried red-eye on everything but archons, demi appeared after 4 archons. Needs more spading of course. --Muhandes 01:40, 3 December 2010 (PST)
:: I am bit sleepy, but I counted only 3 archons before demi --Shikao 13:30, 3 December 2010 (PST)
:: Huh. My Zion tears building just went: first noncom, ~5 combats (no archon), 2nd noncom, 4 archons in a row, then demiurge. I don't know if that was pure luck, but I don't think I did anything very different from the usual.
:: 4L and 2M before Familiar Figure, after: 5L 1M 4A 1The Slime --Shikao 13:08, 5 December 2010 (PST)
:: Familiar Figure right away, then: 5M 11L 5A 1Mister Uh-Uh --Shikao 13:53, 7 December 2010 (PST)
:: That wasn't good day for fighting Demiurge... Familiar Figure right away, then: 12M 11(+1 who beat me)L 3A 1Sdrawkcab Xam - I lost with Demiurge - 3L 5M 1A - Demiurge won again - 1M - I finally beat her! --Shikao 00:42, 9 December 2010 (PST)
:: RNG ultra-hate run: 2M 6A 5L --Shikao 07:45, 11 December 2010 (PST)
:: That was strangely fast: 3A in row, 1L and 2M --Shikao 08:45, 12 December 2010 (PST)

SO I theorize that the number of archosn defeated affects the encounter rate for the demiurge. Simple way to test it is to defeat X archons then adventure for 200 (to minimize RNG screw) turns, running away from any subsequent archons. Tried this after 3 archons, and I fought the demiurge after a little bit. Will try again with 2 sometime soon. --Blackmatter615 10:39, 25 February 2011 (PST)
: After losing count on how many archosn fought on an alt, I decided to test this theory the other way. So I fought 40+ archons, and now, 1:4 combats is not the demiurge. She is constantly showing up. I keep running away to keep testing going. --Blackmatter615 11:31, 25 February 2011 (PST)

The fifth element in the movie reference was Love (arguably). The 17th element is ridiculous. --Blackmatter615 10:36, 22 February 2011 (PST)
