The solution is simple, and explains why zicon5 also has the badge: original continuity run also counts for getting this badge.

Also, Harry Dresden mention that the counter used to calculate run time wasn't always there, so the time of your original run (~31,5 hours) is probably the time it took you to complete the new content you mentioned, your previous playing time not being considered because it was played before the introduction of the counter. That or something wacky happened to both of you.

I saw that the whirlwind badge is listed as being earned by making a very fast run, but I can verify that that's not the case. I played for a while, then left for three years. When I came back, I finished up all of the new content very quickly. Within one or two (real time) days. I'm not sure what exactly triggered it, but my run took over three years. The solution is simple, and explains why zicon5 also has the badge: original continuity run also counts for getting this badge.

Also, Harry Dresden mention that the counter used to calculate run time wasn't always there, so the time of your original run (~31,5 hours) is probably the time it took you to complete the new content you mentioned, your previous playing time not being considered because it was played before the introduction of the counter. That or something wacky happened to both of you.

After looking at Kinak's hint above I went looking for the date the belt came out and checked how many runs Cris and Khal had since then. Cris has 24 up to the 100th run after which she got the badge, Khal has 29 between the release date and the day he reported its existence. In that period Cris has 3 heirloom runs inheriting talismans, and Khal has 1 heirloom inheriting 1 talisman as well so I'm assuming they used them, which gives a max of 21 and 28 runs with class talismans. I believe Khal had been testing the futility belt in that period so some of those runs are likely to include it, I know Cris did at least 1 futility run in that period since she has dusk's baton, only she can tell if more were done. I received Wraith today on my main which at present is a level 6 gadgeteer. The particulars are I spent my entire day one of a retcon on Teeter Street trying to harvest data from the xp non-combat. I ended up getting beaten up a ton so I'm leaning towards thinking that losing fights has a part to play in getting Wraith. Given how it seems to arrive on day two for people who do get it I'm going to go out on a limb and say being the most beaten up person on day one of a retcon is a potential trigger. Nowhere in there does it say anything about any activity that involves turns. I always use the clock, and the furnace (so it's not melee damage), but I only started farming here again a couple days ago, and haven't gotten hammer in a long time, so I think it's the zone. So, we should start spading the mechanism for receiving these items. I'm guessing that they are only given to active players (logged in during last 60 days), and only to those who can wear them (i.e. a level 3 is not going to receive anything stronger than Fortune), but these are on thoughts I had, with no proof. I received Wraith today on my main which at present is a level 6 gadgeteer. The particulars are I spent my entire day one of a retcon on Teeter Street trying to harvest data from the xp non-combat. I ended up getting beaten up a ton so I'm leaning towards thinking that losing fights has a part to play in getting Wraith. Given how it seems to arrive on day two for people who do get it I'm going to go out on a limb and say being the most beaten up person on day one of a retcon is a potential trigger. So, we should start spading the mechanism for receiving these items. I'm guessing that they are only given to active players (logged in during last 60 days), and only to those who can wear them (i.e. a level 3 is not going to receive anything stronger than Fortune), but these are on thoughts I had, with no proof. I received Wraith today on my main which at present is a level 6 gadgeteer. The particulars are I spent my entire day one of a retcon on Teeter Street trying to harvest data from the xp non-combat. I ended up getting beaten up a ton so I'm leaning towards thinking that losing fights has a part to play in getting Wraith. Given how it seems to arrive on day two for people who do get it I'm going to go out on a limb and say being the most beaten up person on day one of a retcon is a potential trigger. So, we should start spading the mechanism for receiving these items. I'm guessing that they are only given to active players (logged in during last 60 days), and only to those who can wear them (i.e. a level 3 is not going to receive anything stronger than Fortune), but these are on thoughts I had, with no proof. I received Wraith today on my main which at present is a level 6 gadgeteer. The particulars are I spent my entire day one of a retcon on Teeter Street trying to harvest data from the xp non-combat. I ended up getting beaten up a ton so I'm leaning towards thinking that losing fights has a part to play in getting Wraith. Given how it seems to arrive on day two for people who do get it I'm going to go out on a limb and say being the most beaten up person on day one of a retcon is a potential trigger. Got Shadow. Psion, first retcon, lvl 9. Spent all my turns in the Joke day zone only had about 16 turns after midnight hit(joke day closes at 12.) so didn't bother to use them and let them rollover to today(Stopped adventuring at like 12:03 or something). Didn't go to soho, didn't use lightcycle, had neutral noncombat(nothing gave that stat I was wearing) I did make some xentrium boots tho so maybe the elija bot guy was building something? I'm new here, so I hope I'm doing this right. I got Shadow 4 times in the last week. The only thing in common that I can think of is autoselling a lot of things (I usually wait and sell a lot all at once), though I didn't know anything about specific triggers at first so I didn't really keep track of everything I did until yesterday. In an attempt to test the autoselling theory, yesterday I sold 176 items for a total of 58,315 chips on my alt, and did get Shadow today. I suspect the triggers are (somewhat) related to the enchantments on the weapons. Hammer: most melee damage inflicted? Claw: most critical hits? Frost: most ice damage inflicted? Shadow: most ranged damage inflicted? Star: most spell damage inflicted? Fortune: most chips chips collected? Wraith: (This is the one I'm least sure about) most levels gained? One final, general, hint to keep everyone from focusing too much on (possibly) the wrong things. Take a look at Wraith's trigger: having retconed the day before. Nowhere in there does it say anything about any activity that involves turns. Some of the armaments are indeed related to spending turns, but some of the triggers can be... erm... triggered without spending a single adventure.
