Hit Messages
* you hit the low road and I'll hit the high, but you'll deal X damage before me.
* drop the beat. Be the beat. Eat the beat. Beat the beat. X damage. Love the beat.
* brutally bashing, you bludgeon beautifully, bequeathing bruises and broken bones; blasting and beating for X bamage. Er, damage.
* there aren't many adjectives to describe a vicious beating, and I'm only offering "brutal" and "painful." While you think it over, your opponent takes X damage.
* for such a simple weapon, your <weapon> can sure make a mess. You pummel your opponent for X damage.

Miss Messages
* you take a swing at your opponent, but they dodge out of the way, making you look a little foolish.
* you miss. You know, these things work a lot better when you actually connect. Just a tip.
* wailing and whimpering, you weakly whiff, wheeling and wobbling. Whining (and whinging) like a wuss.
* despite all your rage, you're still just a rat in a cage. In that, you know, you can't hurt anyone. I'll have a better analogy for the next time you fail miserably, I promise.
* there! Hit them there! No! Not there, there! Oh, never mind. You missed your chance. And your opponent.
Fumble Message
physical Even with the most basic weapon in the world, you manage to totally screw it all up. You might not die from embarrassment, but you'll certainly take physical
Critical Hit Message
you get all up in their grill and give them a beatdown so serious that Mr. Serious will be all like, "Dang!" What I'm trying to say here is that you had a critical hit for X damage.
Algebraic Assembly
The following is the jetpack assembly method expressed in algebraic style, originally compiled by Dadaca. Note that the control arm, two of which are required for the jetpack, has been separated from the rest of the expression, in order to simplify the expression somewhat. The gyro stabilizer is acquired through disassembly.

Assembly is expressed as (ITEM A + ITEM B). Welding is expressed as ([WELD] ITEM A + ITEM B).

A basic operation, one that involves items acquired through drops, is expressed in curly braces: {ITEM A + ITEM B}

jetpack =
([WELD] ((((nanoprocessor + {broken PDA + memory tube}) + {physiology scan code + signal processing code}) + gyro stabilizer) + ((fire bladder + {padded tights + webbed sand}) + ([WELD] {[WELD] shell casing + shell casing} + titanium plating))) + (control arm + (control arm + ([WELD] {trylon strap + trylon strap} + plasteel plating))))

control arm =
((tacky grip + {[WELD] titanium plating + lead pipe}) + ({pressure plate + electronic cabling} + {gears + transformer}))

gyro stabilizer + rapier = ([DISASSEMBLE] digital rapier)

jade hound

This is a jade pendant that has been carved into what looks like a stylized hound. The hound in question is lean and horrible looking, though. It seems to be slavering in hunger. Honestly, why can't you find some nice jewelry?

Miscellaneous Item
Level Required: 15
Autosell value: 150

Usable
Gets you a sidekick/companion.

Your current companion insists you've got to be kidding about summoning one of those hounds while anyone else (like your sidekick) is around. You agree you were just joking.

You hold up the pendant to the sky and the hound figure shimmers and vanishes. Smoke rises up from the ground and a hideous hound steps from the roiling smoke. It stands at your side, but you don't intend to pet it. (Duration: 240 minutes.)

Your hound of Tindalos bites your opponent firmly, hanging on and swiping with its paws, dealing 9 + 9 damage.
(acid)

Your hound of Tindalos snarls and swipes with both paws, brutally injuring and burning your foe. It does 14 + 14 damage.
Coincidentally, I also made a table of the combat encounters at the Docks relative to each other, though I didn't manage to include noncombats.
So, I think I can state with reasonable confidence (assuming RNG accounts for the 3-point drop between low-level and high-level foe damage taken) that the Egyption knife fighter sidekick gives guaranteed damage no matter the foe's stats.

Having no alts (yet), I can't be of help with the sidekick's leveling, sadly.
Looking at these numbers, I don't see any boost in damage from Quijote's spear against GGGs, especially seeing as if anything, Run 2 should be doing less damage. Yeah, I didn't get much data that run, but I think the results rule out a major damage boost from the spear.
Brother spleen begins pulsing and quivering dramatically, and then weirdly just kind of fades into blackness as the electronics around it/him/whatever spark and explode. You sigh at yet another of life's unexplained mysteries and do the only sensible thing. You turn around and run right back up the mine shafts you already know lead to freedom.

With heroic timing you make it out of the shaft just in front of an explosive blast of dust from the swiftly collapsing mine. You pause until the dust settles, then remove your grimy helmet and heavy armor, your long hair blowing in the breeze (if applicable) and calmly wave to the collection of miners and heroes gathered around you.
Congratulations! Thou hast restored peace unto the mine! But there are many roads yet to travel. May the light shine upon thee.
Old Discussion
Some other locations and such:
Locations:
The abyss

Other Info:
Best combat win so far:
330 exp, 3 x infernal claw, and 1 fiendish skull

a fou-posterous varmint from the abyss dropped the charm for me

Resistances may be connected to the monster name that is generated for each combat; I've observed 60% ice resistance during some combats and no ice resistance whatsoever during others. It is also possible that the generated name may have an effect on the monster's strength, drops and exp gain in particular.

Perhaps you could move your discoveries to the talk page for the monster itself. Cristiona 00:23, 31 December 2007 (MST)

I got an abyss also. It seems that some monsters are a lot harder to hit than others. Is it random, or based on the name? I'd like to start some spading on it. --Gnomesquid 16:14, 5 January 2008 (MST)

Monster: an ex-ly critter from the abyss
Easiness: pretty easy

Monster: a ghast-treme goblin from the inferno
Easiness: very easy

Monster: a fou-tastic monster from Abaddon
Easiness: medium hard

Monster: a ghast-real monster from perdition
Easiness: very hard

Monster: a stupen-treme critter from the bottomless pit
Easiness: medium hard

Monster: a fou-tastic beast from the bottomless pit

Monster: a freak-treme beast from the netherworld
Easiness: hard
Let's continue this. If it's a new monster, add its name. If it's already there, just add the easiness.
Name combination ordering
Nothing big. Just that a prefix and suffix can match together to make a real word. I could be wrong in how I combined them, as below.

fan tastic
incred ible
mons trous
stupen dous
ex treme
ghast ly
pre posterous

The only problem is that these last two combinations do not make any words on dictionary.com. But hopefully that kinda clears up how they were derived into prefixes and suffixes.
fou real
freak tesque

Yes, that's consistent with my spading --> on average I have seen it to be {level * 8}.
So, this could be safely transfered to the main article?

Also that means that, taking into account turns gained from leveling up, somebody that patrols only "the Fiendish Pit" will gain ~4 levels every 5 days...
giannis (#4798)
Seems it was eaten when the monsters were split, or on one of the wiki deaths. Your schedule seems off too, as many people gain one level a day at higher levels, and I can't imagine they're getting those levels anywhere else. Cristiona
