The drop rate for Cosmic Crystals from all Dimensional Gate monsters appears to be around 33% (Which also suits the 333 required for the Badge), so initial indications show that, on average, it will take close to 1000 turns spent farming. This is assuming you don't have anything modifying the drop rate. The non-donation gear alone yields a 16% increase, and the hero's cape would add another 20% on top of that. Throw in a class skill, like metal detector, and it adds up to a 40-50% maximum increase all told. There are drops in that area other than cosmic crystals, which would also have to be taken into account. But with my Gadgeteer crystals were dropping much closer to 50-60% of the time without the cape. (Which could in theory have made 666 turns.
