{{Game Manual}}
[[image:clock-white.gif|right|frame|Time]]
'''Time'''—Time is one of the most critical constraints in Twilight Heroes. Each "day" in the game begins at 6 p.m. in Twilight. It is assumed your hero has finished work for the day, eaten a solid meal, and had time to change into his or her disguise.

From there on out, managing time is an important aspect of the game. Many actions, including patrolling, resting, and certain other activities (like playing in the Virtual Reality Gaming Center) use up time. These actions are always marked with the number of minutes that the action will take, so that you can see ahead of time what you're getting into. Other actions, such as changing equipment, shopping, using skills, checking your journal, or looking around most of the top-level areas of the map (anything not marked with a duration) do not use up any time.

'''Bedtime'''—You also begin each day with a "bedtime," which reflects the amount of energy you have before you need to go to sleep for the night. The default bedtime is 9:30 p.m. However, this can be extended in a number of ways, including drinking energizing beverages or using similar items, or getting an adrenaline rush for completing important tasks, such as gaining a level. Also, if you don't use all of your time on a given day (in other words, you decide to go to bed early and get some extra rest), that remaining time will roll over to the next day, meaning you can stay up even later. After rollover your maximum bedtime becomes 4:00pm regardless of how many turns you have saved up.

'''Turns'''—Most of the game is based on the concept of time, but occasionally it's important to think of things in terms of turns. A turn, essentially, consists of any action your hero takes that consumes time. It doesn't matter how much time: whether it's patrolling an area for 5 minutes or playing a VR game for 10 minutes, that single action constitutes a turn. This is important to know, because there are a number of aspects of the game that hinge on turns. Most importantly, a number of items or effects that allow you to regenerate HP and PP act at the end of each turn. Also, while in the beginning most actions default to taking exactly 5 minutes, later in the game there are a number of ways in which your hero might be slowed down or sped up, so that patrolling could take 5.5 minutes, or 4.5 minutes, or some other amount of time. So it's important to understand that anything which happens once per turn is not affected by the duration of the turn. This also appears in the left-hand character pane, where the approximate number of turns left is calculated based on the current time, your bedtime, and the average amount of time it takes to patrol. Depending on what you actually do, this number might not be very accurate, but is intended as a rough estimate to give you some idea of how many actions you have left.

'''Days'''—Twilight works on a 6-day cycle, which consists of 5 weekdays and one weekend day. Twilight actually has a seven-day week just like the rest of us, but it's assumed that one day a week you need to rest, relax, heal, and take care of real-life stuff like visiting friends and family, or spending quality time with your pets. Since your hero isn't doing anything important on that day, it simply doesn't exist in the game, because boy that would be boring! This means that during the five weekdays (Sunday, Moonday, Thewsday, Winsday, and Starsday) there is also a limit to how late you can stay up: 7 a.m. Even if your bedtime would normally extend beyond that point, at 7 you have to go home, clean up, and get ready for work. It's a shame, but that's just the way the world works. (Your extra time will roll over to the next day, though.) The exception to this rule is Frayday night, when you can stay out as long as you want because the following day is a weekend.

'''Calendar''' - Here is a Calendar with current date in the TH day format.
matt the sort of superpowered vigilante (#9561) has honorable right now.
i also confiscated the cargo at the docks a couple times before accepting the black knight's challenge in the guild but it didn't change until then, so it might have been a combination of them, i know cheating the black knight lost honorable as matt the vigilante. I'm currently listed as Altruist. Don't know why (yet) --[[User:Lazyfire|Lazyfire]] 22:40, 18 April 2008 (MST)

Pseudoname-(Character ID #2444) I have Pragmatic, I chose the less heroic versions of the choices listed,I tried cheating against the pitch black knight, then I accepted bribes at the docks. I think I cheated about 3 or 4 times then switched to the docks. it changed after about the 3rd time i accepted a bribe.
Somebody said that cheating the knight 23 times did nothing so it might have just been the docks, or maybe those affected more or something
:* It could be a combination of things. IE: Chastity [#14101] fought the knight with honor 28 times. Is a fresh character, so not tainted with any past encounters. Did not have a chance from Balanced. Does not necessarily mean anything, but ya never know. Will continue to test until I hit 50. if I hit 50 and no change, I will see about finding other, similar non-combats, and see if maybe it's accumulative from -more than one source-. --[[User:Valera|Valera]]
::* 42 current encounters on Chastity. Tomorrow I'll begin to play with something else, and then jump around some. --[[User:Valera|Valera]]

It may be a number and gets deducted/increased by ''x'' each time you do something not heroic or something heroic. When the number gets deducted/increased to another number, you get another reputation. Each choice may deduct/increase the number differently. Please also mention the amount of encounters of the choices when your reputation changed. It appears that choices you've made in the past also count towards your reputation, best if we made a clean, fresh account like Val.--[[User:Chuwenhsuan|chuwenhsuan]]
In case anyone hasn't noticed, the button for all Rep adventures has the words "What do you do?", or something along those lines, or, at least, the three I've found (which counts the Knight and the Docks) have that. Makes it easy to tell if an adventure affects your rep or not, figured you might find it useful. --[[User:Therum|Therum]] 11:22, 19 April 2008 (MST)

Okay, I was spading a bit. It seems that taking the bribe once and cheating the black knight once will give you "Pragmatic", and confiscating the cargo once and taking up the challenge once will get you back to "Balanced". I'll try again on my multis to test it out more. —[[User:Corrupt Shadow|CS]] 10:17, 21 April 2008 (CST)
:* Okay, I used a multi I haven't used in a while. I went back and forth between taking bribes and cheating the knight. It took 3 cheatings, and 4 bribe-takings to get "Pragmatic". —[[User:Corrupt Shadow|CS]] 10:27, 21 April 2008 (CST)

just a little question: has anyone gotten a rare drop since this has been implemented? Because i thought i heard something about your rep possibly effecting your adventures, and i was wondering if it could/would effect rare adventure frequency. --[[User:Reaper|Reaper]] 16:29, 22 April 2008 (MST)
It is said that your reputation won't affect anything. Also, we should use a brand new multi to spade things out because the choices you've done before reputation was implanted also affects you reputation.--[[User:Chuwenhsuan|chuwenhsuan]]

This isn't about past choices but Ryme said "There will soon be ways in which the reputations get you different results, for sure." so it sounds like reputation will do something eventually.

also the rave choice adventure seems to effect reputation differently than the docks one because i had honorable on a multi then chose to accept the loss at the rave and after a few turns of doing that my reputation changed to virtuous, then i took bribes a few times to see how it would change my reputation and got altruistic, before tried to change my reputation i was farming in the cube so it might have affected it too, i was alternating between right and center at the cube. so this isn't very reliable, but it seems like either the rave or the cube changes reputation differently than the docks
also does anybody know how to get vigilante?

== Analysis ==
Caffeine toleration is your character's maximum level of caffeine per day. Every item has a set caffeine level, and every person has a set caffeine toleration of 12 (unless content comes out that alters your caffeine toleration). As such, knowing the caffeine level of an item can help you see if you're wasting chips/caffeine in your day. While some items may appear to be less effective, it may end up that due to their caffeine level, they're more useful than a higher time yielding item. The basic calculation for efficiency is to take 12, the caffeine toleration, divide it by the caffeine level, round down, and multiply it by the time given. This, of course, does not take into account difficulty to obtain items or bad side effects. Here's a rough chart, in order from least to most effective, effectiveness being higher for items that you need to use less of for the same amount of time (for convenience, denote coffee shop items as being every item in the coffee shop except the herbal tea):

[[JitterSpout Coffee|coffee shop items]]: 2 hours
[[caffeine pill]]: 2.5 hours
[[Vial of powdered mojo]]: 2.5 hours
[[Can of Gingerelle]]: 3 hours
[[Bag of PG Tips]]: 3 hours
[[Pep-up pill]]: 3 hours
[[fortified coffee]]: 3 hours*
[[White pill]]: 3 hours*
[[Guatemalan pepperjuice]]: 3.5 hours
[[Dose of X-presso]]: 3.5 hours
[[Mister Tea]]: 3.5 hours
[[Bray energy drink]]: 4 hours*
[[Scalpel energy drink]]: 4 hours*

== Notes ==

<nowiki>*</nowiki>Brays and Scalpels leave room for 2 caffeine left, which means 2 gingers would bring it to 4.5 hours, or 1 pepperjuice would bring it to 4 hours and 35 minutes. Fortified coffee leaves room for 2 caffeine as well, so it could be brought up to 3.5 hours a day, or 3 hours and 35 minutes, with the same items. White pills leave room for 4 more caffeine, which brings their total to 4 hours with gingers, or 4 hours and 10 minutes with pepperjuice.

A [[Coffee mochi ball]] yields the same results as coffee shop items. The [[Can of Gingerette]] yields the same results as [[Can of Gingerelle]]. The [[Scalpel energy drink]] yields the same results as the [[Bray energy drink]]. The [[Dose of X-presso]] has the same yield as the [[Guatemalan pepperjuice]] but without the bad side effects. The [[white pill]] has a good side-effect ([[Euphoria]]) and then a very bad side-effect following it ([[Utter Wretchedness]]), so it's best to think carefully before using.

Suggestions: very brief motivation might be nice, distinguishing a walkthrough (do A->B->C) from a guide (you want A or B, which you can get easily from C or D). For example,
"Head to Pilant's Hardware and Soft Wear & Pick up,
* 1 flashlight
* 1 kneepads
* 1 bicycle."
might further explain "You're trying to obtain an inexpensive item for each empty equipment slot on your character sheet. You can't wear duplicate items (else you might buy e.g. 2 <strike>flashlights</strike>)." --[[User:Tycho Everett|Tycho Everett]] 14:23, 3 June 2008 (MST) Yah, sorry, I meant wearing two of the same Accessories in your Accessory slots (in this case Knee Pads). --[[User:Tycho Everett|Tycho Everett]] 17:21, 3 June 2008 (MST)

"Do not use the Magic truck vehicle." Note that there are some other items that slow you down, specifically don't equip the Remaindered cell phone from the Black Market. --[[User:Tycho Everett|Tycho Everett]] 15:41, 3 June 2008 (MST)

The [[Remainder cell phone]] has benefits, and i didn't want to limit what players consider useing.
the '''Where to start''' section is a brief section to help jump start those players who haven't even spent a turn,
and to show players where to get what they need when they find them selfs overwhelmed.
(i doubt there will be that many new player who find the wiki without even useing a turn.)
as most players know from other games you can not equip 2 items to a single slot, the only confusion that most new players have with it is the accessories slots and duplicate items and i covered that in '''Equipment'''. as most things this takes time.--[[User:Reaper|Reaper]] 16:37, 3 June 2008 (MST)

I wouldn't say "Don't use these items," but it would certainly be worth taking a moment to explain that "adds +X to turn duration" is a '''bad''' thing. [[User:Cristiona|Cristiona]]

I hope you don't mind, Reaper, I've been making a few grammar related edits and readability changes. Nothing major, just expanding shorthand to full words (lvl to level, for example) or capitalizing acronyms (Iotm to IOTM). It might help someone who is newer to the internet or games in general, and doesn't understand basic shorthand and such. -- [[User:Naborr|Naborr]] 17:00, 7 June 2008 (MST)
*That's fine but there are 2 that i have a minor problem with first is in the game it's [[jetpack]] and not "jet pack" (I should have made it a link) and XP is also in the game. but the other stuff are things that i missed. thanks :) --[[User:Reaper|Reaper]] 20:43, 7 June 2008 (MST)
**It should be IotM. That's technically the correct capitalization in English. --[[User:MagiNinjA|MN (#228)]] ([[User talk:MagiNinjA|T]]|[[Special:Contributions/MagiNinjA|C]]) 23:43, 7 June 2008 (MST)

Hum. Do we want to list the current market price for Silver Stars? [[User:Cristiona|Cristiona]]

i could remove that part & its not current its more like a few months ago, i just dont want people getting ripped off. i know i will add in a little section saying something like "check ah and what others are selling them for"--[[User:Reaper|Reaper]] 20:07, 8 June 2008 (MST) forgot my sig >.>

***My mistake. A nice article, by the way. I'm glad to have helped in a very slightly unnoticeable way. -- [[User:Naborr|Naborr]] 09:58, 8 June 2008 (MST)

=So You Want To Be A Hero.=
Welcome to the Beginner's Guide to Twilight Heroes.
'''Warning''': This guide may contain spoilers.
*(Here is the [http://www.twilightheroes.com/manual.php Official TH Manual], we will be covering some things that are in there.)

==Choosing a class==
Here is the [[Classes]] page & a [[Class_Comparison_Tables|Class Comparison Table]]
to see what the different classes have to offer.

If you find that you would rather be another class then,
the [[Transmogrifier]] page will show you how to change classes.

==Where to start==
Twilight Heroes can be a bit confusing or overwhelming when you're first starting.
This next little section will show you were to start if you want to head into combat a little more prepared.

===You're a Dirty Dirty Hero===
To Quote [[Ryme]] "dumpster diving--while not glamorous--can be surprisingly rewarding."
You'll want to [[Investigate the trash bin out back]].
You are looking for
*[[denim jacket]]
*[[denim pants]]
and the adventure below.
{{noncombat
|image=dumpster.gif
|items=none
|chips=150
|exp=none}}

===Cleaning up Crime===
Head to [[Pilant's Hardware and Soft Wear]]
& Pick up,
*1 [[flashlight]]
*1 [[kneepads]]
&
*1 [[bicycle]].

You will want to equip them, and head out to [[Your neighborhood]].
And remember to have fun.

=What you need to know=
Here is some basic info that you should know about.

==Turns & Time==
There are a few things that effect how much time your turns cost.
[[Beginner's Guide to Twilight Heroes#Caffeine|Caffeine]] will give you more time, with more time you get more turns.
You want items that remove time from turns, if they add time to turns its a bad thing.
*[[77 Habits of Highly Effective Heroes]] will make your turns cheaper by 30 seconds.
**I listed 2 others that you will want to know about here [[Beginner's Guide to Twilight Heroes#Equipment|Equipment]].

===Caffeine is my Friend===
You get 12 points of caffeine each day, and they will be replenished after rollover.
Each source of caffeine consumes these points differently, since you are a beginner
you'll want to pick up 12 [[Can_of_Gingerette|Gingerette]] or [[Can_of_Gingerelle|Gingerelle]] (they are the same thing just different names) from the [[Black_Market|Black Market]].
*Here is the [[Caffeine]] page, it will show you what some of the other sources of caffeine are.

===Rollover===
Every night at roughly 11:10 Eastern time, the game will rollover.
When you log back in after rollover, you'll have more turns and your caffeine level will be reset.

===To Rest or not to Rest===
*Resting in your [[Hideout]] will replenish some of your hp & pp.
*Resting will not remove bad effects.
**(Find the bad effect in the wiki to see if it can be removed & if so, how.)
*Resting will cost you 5 minutes to 2.5 minutes depending on your level.

==Losing your Chips==
Chips are your lifeblood... & Devil Dice will take your soul...
*Gambling at the [[Seedy Casinos]] can destroy you faster than you know.
**(I have heard of many high levels losing hundreds of thousands in chips in just a few minutes.)
*Try not to spend chips on items and equipment, for the first 7 or so levels.
**(you will need the chips for your training and [[Beginner's Guide to Twilight Heros#Caffeine is my Friend|Caffeine]].)
*There are 2 places that you can earn decent chips adventuring.
**First is [[Golden_Wooden_Nickel_Casino_Grounds|Golden Wooden Nickel Casino]].
***(best to be a level 5 or higher, if you're taking a lot of damage then you may want to grind in a place that isn't so brutal.)
**Second is the [[Cube Theater]].
***(it unlocks at level 9 but you will take a lot of damage it would be best if you waited till you were level 14, unless you have a healing skill then you may be able to do it a few levels sooner.)

===Equipment===
Here are the [[:Category:Equipment_Summary_Tables|Equipment Summary Tables]], it will help
you figure out what gear you want to look for.
*When you want to know an item's info in the game, simply click its picture.
*Pay attention to the item's info before buying it. level requirement, what slot it takes, & ect.
**(you may find that you have something that is better in your inventory.)
*'''Full-body suits''' will take up your shirt slot & your pants slot.
*You can't equip 2 of the same accessories, (unless it says otherwise in its description)

*Get the [[Xentrium breastplate]] ASAP. It will make your turns cost less time.(it will give you more turns)
*Do not use the [[Magic truck vehicle]]. If you use it, it will make your turns cost more time.(it will make you have less turns)
**(if you message [[user:Cristiona|Cristiona]] ID# 24 in the game, she will give you a fair price for your [[Magic truck vehicle]].)

===Rares & IOTMs===
These items can be identified by the fact that they are the only items in the game that have [[Color]].

*There are 2 kinds of Rares, Rare & Semi-rare.
**Rares also knows as "Ultra Rares" or "URs" are hard to find and you may spend months looking for them.
***(All tho some people get lucky and find a rare in days.)
***The [[Boomstick]] is the only Rare Weapon in the game, all other rares are [[Talismans]].
**Semi-rares are [[Talismans]] that are about as good as the talisman that you get for completing the [[Don't Cry for Me, Zion-tina]] quest.
**The [[corrupt amulet]] & [[special wooden cup]] are the only 2 Semi-rares in the game currently.
*[[The Wok of Stars|IOTMs]] stands for "item of the month".
**They can be obtained by donating 5$ or more to the game, or buying [[silver star|Silver stars]] from other players.
**They Require 5 to 10 [[silver star|Silver stars]] to buy them from the [[The Wok of Stars]]
**They are retired after the month is over.
***Some players may be selling an [[The Wok of Stars|IOTM]] after it has been retired.

===Computers & Software===
Here is what you need to know about computers & software.

====Computers====
There are 2 types of computers. you can equip them in your [[Computer Lab]]
*[[Electronic computer]]: This computer can be built by anyone & used by anyone.
*[[Positronic computer]]: This computer can only be built by [[Gadgeteer|Gadgeteers]], but anyone can use them.
**A [[Positronic computer]] is 50% better than an [[Electronic computer]].

====Software====
Software is made from [[mangled data plate|Mangled data plates]], the only exception
is [[Vlad's Decryptonomicon software]] & and can be found at [[Pilant's Hardware and Soft Wear]]
*[[Vlad's Decryptonomicon software]] is the only software that can run on both of the Installed computers.
The best softwares for new players are
[[IMyself blog software]] & [[GigantoFirm LookOut Calendar]].

==Quests & Rand the Man==
When you adventure in [[Neighboring and neighborly neighborhood]] you'll come across the
side adventure [[Officer Down]], Thus unlocking other Quests for levels to come.

*Some areas can only be unlocked by starting a quest or adventuring while using an item.
**The wiki will have info on how to unlock them.

====Finding the Rand====
You live the sad life of a Hero! No friends, always working in one way or another.
Why not go out and find yourself a friend. Here's Rand...

*First Rand will be in [[Neighboring and neighborly neighborhood]].
*Then you can find him in the [[Twilight Hospital]] in [[Downtown Twilight]].
*After that he will be at the [[Twilight Police Department]] when there is a quest to be started or completed.
====Quests the Other White Meat====
Above all else remember that the [[Journal]] is your other friend.
It will give you hits if you get lost or stuck.
*[[Quests]] unlock at most levels from 1-9.
*Everyone gets stuck on the [[A Dank and Rusty Mystery|Maze]] password!
**First hint: [[Ryme]] is obsessed with Spoonerisms.
**Second hint: Do what is says, not say what is says.
*Some adventures are limited occurring once or a few times.
**(think of them as side quests or side adventures)

===Merit Badges===
[[Merit Badges]] are added to your profile for performing certain tasks.
*To get your [[Merit Badges]] you have to visit the [[Train at the Heroes' Guild|Heroes' Guild]] after completing the challenge!
**You're not allowed to talk about [[Merit Badges|Merit Badge]] requirements in chat, unless it is in a Private Message or in a hinting manner.
*[[Merit Badges]] are only for show.
*There are still [[Merit Badges]] than haven't been found.
**If you find one that isn't in the [[Merit Badges|Merit Badge]] page, then write down the info on how you think you found it so others may have a clue.

=What you need to know=
Here is some basic info that you should know about.

==Turns & Time==
There are a few things that effect how much time your turns cost.

===Caffeine is my Friend===

===Rollover===

==Losing your Chips==

===Equipment===

===Rares & IOTMs===

===Computers & Software===
Here is what you need to know about computers & software.

====Computers====

====Software====

*Some areas can only be unlocked by starting a quest or adventuring while using an item.
**The wiki will have info on how to unlock them.

====Finding the Rand====

=So You Want To Be A Hero.=
'''Warning''': This guide may contain spoilers.
*(Here is the [http://www.twilightheroes.com/manual.php Official TH Manual], we will be covering some things that are in there.)

==Choosing a class==
Here is the [[Classes]] page & a [[Class_Comparison_Tables|Class Comparison Table]]
to see what the different classes have to offer.

If you find that you would rather be another class then,
the [[Transmogrifier]] page will show you how to change classes.

==Where to start==
Twilight Heroes can be a bit confusing or overwhelming when you're first starting.
This next little section will show you were to start if you want to head into combat a little more prepared.

===You're a Dirty Dirty Hero===
To Quote [[Ryme]] "dumpster diving--while not glamorous--can be surprisingly rewarding."
You'll want to [[Investigate the trash bin out back]].
You are looking for
*[[denim jacket]]
*[[denim pants]]
and the adventure below.
{{noncombat
|name=Who Would Throw Away a Perfectly Good TV?
|image=dumpster.gif
|items=none
|chips=150
|exp=none}}

===Cleaning up Crime===
Head to [[Pilant's Hardware and Soft Wear]]
& Pick up,
*1 [[flashlight]]
*1 [[kneepads]]
&
*1 [[bicycle]].

you will want to equip them, and head out to [[Your neighborhood]].
And remember to have fun.

=What you need to know=
Here is some basic info that you should know about.

==Turns & Time==
There are a few things that effect how much time your turns cost.
[[Beginner's Guide to Twilight Heros#Caffeine|Caffeine]] will give you more time, with more time you get more turns.
You want items that remove time from turns, if they add time to turns its a bad thing.
*[[77 Habits of Highly Effective Heroes]] will make your turns cheaper by 30 seconds.
**I listed 2 others that you will want to know about here [[Beginner's Guide to Twilight Heros#Equipment|Equipment]].

===Caffeine is my Friend===

===Rollover===

==Losing your Chips==
Chips are your lifeblood... & Devil Dice will take your soul...
*Gambling at the [[Seedy Casinos]] can destroy you faster than you know.
**(I have heard of many high lvls losing hundreds of thousands in chips in just a few minutes.)
***(best to be a lvl 5 or higher, if you're taking a lot of damage then you may want to grind in a place that isn't so brutal.)
**Second is the [[Cube Theater]].
***(it unlocks at level 9 but you will take a lot of damage it would be best if you waited till you were lvl 14, unless you have a healing skill then you may be able to do it a few lvls sooner.)

===Equipment===
here are the [[:Category:Equipment_Summary_Tables|Equipment Summarie Tables]], it will help
you figure out what gear you want to look for.

===Rares & Iotms===

*Then you can find him in the [[Twilight Hospital]] in [[Downtown Twilight]].
*After that he will be at the [[Twilight Police Department]] when there is a quest to be started or completed.

====Quests the Other White Meat====
