|desc=When all else fails ... uh, you can, too?

After you punch the orange F with a virtual hand, a progress bar appears along with the words "Debugger loading." A blue line slowly begins filling a white box, while a timer underneath estimates that it will take 999,999,999 minutes. But in no more than the time it takes for you to roll your eyes it jumps to 99% complete, and the estimate jumps down to 2 seconds. Naturally, it takes a full minute for those "two seconds" to pass. Then the bar kicks into motion ... sliding backwards of all things. Eventually it does kick forward again, shooting to the end and then beyond the bounds of the white box, zipping somewhere far off screen.

Moments later the whole mess is replaced by the image of some sort of futuristic pub--half Mos Eisley cantina and half Quark's, with a burble of wandering puppets and Ferengi in the background. Gee, wonder where the programmers got their inspiration? A vaguely familiar human bartender leans up against the counter and addresses you. "Welcome to The Progress Bar. Looks like you could use a nice tall glass of debugging. What's your order?"

Confusing. The bartender looks at you expectantly. Apparently he's a quirky metaphor for the computer interface, and you're supposed to tell him what you want to do. Knowing the programmers, it probably only recognizes one word commands.

Well. After writing this, I almost immediately was alerted to the fact that Castle Hundenswein much, much better for farming. I'm doing research on the items (which you should autosell, which you should use to create sidekicks, etc), but if anybody else wants to change this, be my guest.

You're forgetting noncombat vs. combat rates as well as item drop rates. I preferred the DDD because of the item drop rates totally beat the Cube's. You'll have to include tons of numbers for this to be accurate. --<font color=#701337><b>MN (#228)</b></font> <small>(T|C)</small> 10:40, 26 November 2008 (MST)

Yeah, I know. I'm rather scared of statistics, to be honest. I don't know if anyone actually has the numbers for the Cube, let alone the Castle, but you're right, the guide is severely lacking in charts, tables, percentages, and whatnot.

In fact, it's severely lacking in anything that isn't an opinion. I see no significat points made in this over the old Chip Farming page other than Psions get 30 extra minutes and that there's a couple new effects to look into. Also, over on that page you claim this is more 'general' farming than chip farming, but you don't list anything that'll help with item farming here, except when it happens to yield more chips from autoselling. If you're actually going to present yourself as an authority on the subject of making more chips, back it up with facts, instead of "Well, this is what I do, I think it's the best.". 24 hours. Make this page better (and, in fact, make it match its title) or it may be removed. Or, if you prefer, just go improve the already-existing chipfarming page that happens to already have more facts than this does. --Olaf 14:37, 26 November 2008 (MST)

I would argue that the equipment section especially has plenty of new information. It explains in detail why each piece of equipment should be used. It says, for instance, why you should use a Letter Shirt instead of a Harness because you get more time to farm more chips than you would gain from a harness. I apologize for all of the opinion and terrible jokes in it, but that's just the way I write. I've been taking out some of the worse "jokes." And finally, what I mean by "General Farming" is simply contrasting "Chip Farming," which does not include +%item drop items. The idea is not for farming any item- it's making as many chips you can with a combination of chips and items.

There are also some things that aren't backed up by absolute statistics. Where there were none, I simply use estimation to say what is probably best. If y'all have some spading that you've done that prove otherwise, feel free to change it. The guide isn't perfect.

The problem is that all these kinds of tables and stuff are already found, like the best +item, +chips, -time, etc. Anyways, my bigger point is , and . --<font color=#701337><b>MN (#228)</b></font> <small>(T|C)</small> 15:43, 26 November 2008 (MST)

Things that aren't known are things like whether 5% chips is better than 3% items. How many extra chips will you get every turn with the chip bonus? How many chips will get extra per turn with the item bonus? At what point does +%items become useless? What's the average chip drop for each enemy? What's the percentage chance of each patrol? Things like that, which are necessary to say exactly which item is the best, we don't have. That's what I'm talking about.

I think we're being a little bit dickish here >.> There's nothing necessarily wrong with a guide so long as it makes clear what's fact and what's supposed/opinion. I think the goal is to eventually clear out what's just opinion (or confirm it) and refine the guide. And I do think there's a difference between chip farming and optimal farming. - Satan

For what it's worth, pumping combats in the cube is probably better. The Intermission chip gain is easily eclipsed with a moderate amount of +chips, to say nothing of item values. Cristiona

That's touched on briefly in the buffs section, I think.

The Cube section shows a very weak grasp of how reputation-modifying adventures work. Needs some serious editing. Cristiona
: It's full of subjective opinions. Maybe we want to add a warning to user guides.--Muhandes 19:48, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

It calculates expected chip yield based on the amount of noncom, +chips, and +items that you feed it. I might update this page, too, as it has inaccurate and missing information. -SpockYoda

If it's useless to bot your turns, that means it's an option you can't select, which means it's a 4th option and most likely another time-based semi-rare. Also, I just realized that I should probably make something to select the 4th option if it's there, so you don't miss something like that. - Satan
*Notice that it can't be auto-sold? This isn't semi-rare. Cristiona
