While patrolling your neighborhood, you discover the battered remains of your old car, the one that was stolen from you the night you became a superhero. Apparently it was used roughly and then abandoned. The battery's missing, the windshield is shattered, and there are exposed wires where your ignition used to be. But it's still worth a bit to the scrap yards, apparently. All it takes is a quick phone call and before you know it you've traded in the useless hunk of junk for a stack of cool, plasticky chips.
