There are 12 caves in the Mouths of Darkness which share the same structure.
When you adventure in a cave you get the message:
- You venture into cave X. So far you have gone through Y sections of it.
On the first 4 ventures you get one of the combat adventures. On the fifth you get one of the one-time adventures.
