This page needs content: What does bubble sprayer ACTUALLY do? |
Johnny Arson |
---|
You are fighting Johnny Arson.
You open the door into the furnace room. True to its name, a wall of backdraft confronts you.
A silhouette, as much machine as man, stands amid the flames. "We meet again," he synthesizes.
Not wanting to make this weird, you wrack your memory... hmmm...
It's... possible this was the arsonist you captured in Somerset a bit after you met Officer Rand. But you can't really tell for sure under all that metal, so you just nod grimly and get to the "grudge match."
Your opponent attacks ...
Hit messages:
- You're too far from your hideout for Johnny to set it on fire, so he sets his furnace room on fire instead. (fire) damage
- Johnny gets his gun. Unsurprisingly, it shoots a massive blast of flame. (fire) damage
- Johnny torches you, explaining he's using his Arson Thrower. Honestly, it doesn't feel any different from getting set on fire with a normal flamethrower. (fire) damage
He hits you for X damage.
Critical hit message:
Your opponent has a critical hit! He hits you for X damage.
Miss messages:
- You're too far from your hideout for Johnny to set it on fire, so he glowers at you instead.
- Johnny gets his gun. Unsurprisingly, it's already half-melted and misfires.
- Johnny fires a gout of flame at you, explaining he's using his Arson Thrower. When you ask how it's different form a normal flamethrower, he explains it's like the difference between a freeze ray and an ice beam.
- Also, it's trademarked, so technically it's an Arson Thrower brand flame management solution. Huh. Learn something new every day.
Fumble messages:
Your foe fumbles! He takes X damage.
Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!
You gain 200 experience.
Huh, this gadget looks like a bit of cobbled-together trash, but whirs to life when your talisman gets near it... like it's drawing power from it somehow.
You have acquired a new skill: Arson Thrower
Known resistances/weaknesses
Immune to fire damage.

Notes
- At the end of each round of combat, if Johnny hits,
- Johnny hoses you down with the Arson Thrower for X (fire) damage.
- Otherwise, if Johnny fails to hit, his accuracy and offense are increased, with the message:
- Your opponent's rage seems to feed the furnace's flames.
The furnace's flames, in turn, feed Johnny's Arson Thrower, resulting in a torrent of flame and X (fire) damage.
- After use of the Bubble Sprayer this message sometimes appears:
- The bubbles dampen the furnace's fires.
References
- The foe's image is based on Pyro from Team Fortress 2.
- The second hit and miss messages refer to Johnny Get Your Gun.
- The third miss message refers to some weapon upgrades in Metroid video games.
