There are old stains on his clothes that look suspiciously like blood, but he insists that he's okay. "I'm Kane. I'm supposed to be the executive officer of this travesty, but I've lost track of everyone. Some kind of centipede or something got Brett, and I got separated from the rest of the crew. I'm not sure what happened to Parker or Dallas."

You take a moment to note that you should stay out of cave X, and just go ahead and mark it as empty on your map.
