three-speed bicycle shorts (second gear)
Plural: three-speed bicycle shorts
The newest rage in bicyclist clothing technology is clothes that change speeds with your bike! After all, if the same clothes that you wear around the house aren't good enough to wear when you're exercising, then by extension the shorts you wear when taking a leisurely cruise shouldn't match the shorts you'd wear when pedaling up a mountain.

There's a dial on the waistband for setting the speed of the shorts. Currently they're in second gear. At the middle speed you're quick and efficient, and getting good exercise. This is denoted by there being a speed stripe down the length of the shorts.
