unsanitary gauze
Plural: rolls of unsanitary gauze
This gauze has seen better days. Now it's singed and brown and there's stuff melted into it. You could apply it to your skin, and it probably wouldn't be worse than rubbing pure dirt into your wounds, but it's hard to say.
