catcher's mitt
Plural: catcher's mitts
This is a standard catcher's mitt, used in the game of baseball. It's stiff, awkward, and makes it almost impossible to grip things. While it does enhance the catching of 90 MPH projectiles, it doesn't quite work on bullets. Unless you're being metaphorical about your pitches.
