unborn soldier

You are fighting an unborn soldier.

This is one of the many genetically identical soldiers from the Unborn Army. He looks just like all the others. You have a strange sense of deja vu as you ready yourself for combat.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • You try to distract him by insulting his mom, but this tactic fails spectacularly. His mocking laughter hurts almost as much as the butt of his rifle as he hits you with it. damage+ (sonic) damage
  • The soldier does like his rank and kicks you in the privates.
  • The soldier waits until he can see the whites of your eyes, and then he pokes those whites with his stiffened fingers.

He hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! He hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • In the heat of the fight you accidentally knock over a rack of test tubes. "Mama!" the soldier shouts, and drops to his knees in anguish.
  • The soldier fails to live up to his rank when his attempt at corporal punishment fails.
  • He waits until he can see the whites of your eyes. Then he waits a bit more, but at that point it's too late to do anything.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! He takes X damage.

Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!

References

  • "Déjà vu" (French: "already seen") is used to refer the feeling that one has experienced a hitherto-new event before in the past. In our case, once you've seen one of the Unborn, you've seen 'em all.
  • The third hit and third miss messages all reference the quote "Don't shoot till you see the whites of their eyes!" supposedly made famous by the Battle of Bunker Hill during the American Revolution.
