Jargon
There are many words that will be spread around whilst in the community. Have a list. Although slightly outdated, Bartle definitions of the suits are also included, as are the more modern interpretations.
Spade
- 'Explorers, dubbed "Spades" for their tendency to dig around, are players who prefer discovering areas, creating maps and learning about hidden places. They often feel restricted when a game expects them to move on within a certain time, as that does not allow them to look around at their own pace. They find great joy in discovering an unknown glitch or a hidden easter egg.' - Wikipedia definition of an Explorer
- Spades have an interest in researching the game's mechanics and numbers. These people are like the scientists of Twilight.
Heart
- 'There are a multitude of gamers who choose to play games for the social aspect, rather than the actual game itself. These players are known as Socializers or "Hearts." They gain the most enjoyment from a game by interacting with other players, and on some occasions, computer-controlled characters with personality. The game is merely a tool they use to meet others in-game or outside of it.' - Wikipedia definition of a Socializer
- Hearts tend to ignore the left pane and focus on the right pane: chat. Or the forums. They are here more for the content and people.
Club
- '"Clubs" are a very accurate moniker for what the Killer likes to do. They thrive on competition with other players, and prefer fighting them to scripted computer-controlled opponents.' - Wikipedia definition of a Killer
- Clubs enjoy beat downs. This may apply to real people or just normal enemies, but they do what they can to win.
Diamond
- 'Also known as "Diamonds," these are players who prefer to gain "points," levels, equipment and other concrete measurements of succeeding in a game. They will go at great lengths to achieve rewards that confer them little or no gameplay benefit simply for the prestige of having it.' - Wikipedia definition of an Achiever
- Diamonds strive to be the best, have the best, or have the most of something. There are several types of diamonds as well. The most common definition of diamond is a person who strives to hit a leaderboard(s). Other definitions include those who farm (most wealth), those who collect (biggest collection/wealth) among many smaller categories.
To say the least, all these definitions are not mutually exclusive nor is anyone usually a "pure" kind of a suit. Common combinations include club/diamond, spade/diamond, spade/heart and heart/diamond.
