"Oh! Hello there! Sorry, you startled me! And let me tell you, when I get startled, you know I'm startled because I look more startled than anyone. I am the great Martin Dali, and this is my cat, Ixthyaki. Welcome to my League of Self Promoters.

Isn't this a delightfully quirky building I have here? Did you know I'm the architect and the builder? And I'm also the president and founding member, of the League of Self Promoters, you know. It's the first of its kind anywhere, and by far the most successful. I'm sure my leadership played at least a small role in that. I can see that you're a who knows how to appreciate one's own interests. I, too, have a refined taste for personal glory."

Before you've hired Martin:

"Would you like to hire me as a publicist? I work on commission, just 50% of your earnings, but only for up to two hours a night. After that, I need some me time."

Accept Martin's Services:

This information may no longer be accurate; please move this information to the Notes section using {{Oldsummon}} and use {{Summoncompanion}} instead.

  • Without a current companion:
Martin says, "Very well, I shall join you in promoting your fame and fortune. Because, after all, if I make you famous, doesn't that enhance my reputation even more?" (Duration: 120 minutes.)
I am already in your employ. Shouldn't we be out there making a name for ourselves?
  • When you have a different companion:
Oh, I see you already have a friend with you. Come back sometime when you're on your own, and we can talk.

Sidekick/companion: Publicist

After Martin has finished working for you:

I have to take care of some personal business, and I don't have time to do any more publicist work tonight. When you're as shameless a self promoter as I am, you have a lot of personal business to attend to.

Notes

  • Available only for Selfish (Just, Judicious, and Vigilante) Reputations.

References

  • The image and text reference Salvador Dali.
  • Appropriately, this is also a self promotion for the novel Major Dilemmas. The protagonist of the novel is called Dale Martin, and on the first chapter his name is mistaken to be Martin Dalí. His roommate is called Ixthyaki.
