Talk:Egyptian knife fighter
Figured that while I was spading, I should fool around with the two items I never knew of until now. Found a manual of Egyptian knife fighting my first turn in the Triassic Park, so I decided to search for the smuggler and spade the fighter at the same time.
Coincidentally, I also made a table of the combat encounters at the Docks relative to each other, though I didn't manage to include noncombats. Those combats where my sidekick got in more than one hit, as denoted by 'and', have had the damage from that combat averaged before going into the type average.
Level 70 Gadgeteer, Egyptian knife fighter sidekick (assumed Level 40), no +sidekick effectiveness:
Sidekick damage:
Stevedora- 40, 36, 42, 46, 41, 48, 42, 37, 44, 36, 47, 42, 44, 44, 37, 43 - combats 16, avg dmg 41.8125
Old Man- 46, 42, 47, 39, 41, 39, 47, 40, 42, 44 - combats 10, avg dmg 42.4
Smuggler- 44, 38, 42, 41, 45, 42, 45 - combats 7, avg dmg 42.428571428571428571428571428571
Shoreman- 42, 43, 44, 42, 38, 47, 43 and 42 - combats 7, avg dmg 42.642857142857142857142857142857
Guard- 42, 46, 40, 44 and 46, 44, 40, 36, 48, 37 - combats 9, avg dmg 42
totals- combats 49, avg dmg 42.256785714285714285714285714284
Then took my sidekick for a spin in S7G; these results are listed one enemy to one combat, as the combats are so long there. Again, no misses by my sidekick.
Sidekick damage:
crawler bot- 40, 39, 38, 37, 38, 38 - avg dmg 38.333333333333333333333333333333
SnoBot- 44, 45, 45, 38, 39, 37 - avg dmg 41.333333333333333333333333333333
totals- avg dmg 39.833333333333333333333333333333
So, I think I can state with reasonable confidence (assuming RNG accounts for the 3-point drop between low-level and high-level foe damage taken) that the Egyption knife fighter sidekick gives guaranteed damage no matter the foe's stats.
Having no alts (yet), I can't be of help with the sidekick's leveling, sadly.

8-11 damage at level 9--Muhandes 21:34, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
Level | Damage |
---|---|
1 | 1 |
2 | 2 |
3 | 3-4 |
4 | 4-5 |
5 | 5-6 |
6 | 5-7 |
7 | 6-8 |
8 | 7-9 |
9 | 8-11 |
10 | 9-12 |
Seems quite obvious it is 1*Level + (randomness). With a few more levels I might be able to see the randomness pattern. --Muhandes 08:17, 22 April 2010 (UTC)
This seems to fit well to Round(0.9*Level)-Round(1.2*Level), except missing 10 for level 8 --Muhandes 15:28, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
