This is a gem, in the shape of a tear drop. This is also known as a "pear" cut, if you turn it the other way. Like if you're the gem dealer and you're showing it to a customer. When you combine the items, it says "You attempt to use the caustic goo to etch interesting patterns into the gold, but the impure chemical lump dissolves completely under the acidit (sic) wash. Well, almost completely. Buried inside is a near-perfect teardrop-shaped gem. Sweet!"
