Talisman Transmogrifier

Wanting to try out one of the other classes? Then you've come to the right place. Located in the talismans nook of your Hideout, the transmogrifier is a device that will allow you to make the switch.

Unfortunately, this comes at a great cost. Your level is reset to one, and you lose all of your current experience, stats, and powers. However, you get to keep all your chips and items, minus the talisman of your old class, which you transmogrified into a shiny new one. Any quests you completed prior to your transformation will still be recorded in your journal, and you won't have to (or be able to) repeat them.

In order to use the transmogrifier, you must first equip the basic talisman of your current class (Ember in a Bottle, Lug-Nut Keychain, Shark's Tooth Necklace, or Intellectual Headband.) You will then have the option to transmogrify. If you're sure you're ready to make the leap, click the button and proceed to select your new class.

Description in Hideout

This is an insidious little device that you put together one evening when you'd had too much caffeine and couldn't think of anything else to do. From the outside it looks a bit like a cardboard box with a few wires and knobs coming out of it, and one really large "Transmogrify" button.

To be honest, the transmogrifier kind of scares you. Your notes suggest that anything put inside the box will be bombarded with some kind of horrible ray unknown to most scientists. You've tested it on a few mundane objects, and they've basically disintegrated. In theory if you put some sort of super-powerful object inside, such as, say, a talisman it might survive the ordeal but come out drastically altered. Unfortunately there's also no telling what might happen to the person who was fundamentally tied to the talisman at the time. There's a very good chance that you could lose most or even all of your powers and end up starting over from scratch -- barely more powerful than the average mortal.

On the other hand, change is fun, and it might let you see things from a different perspective.

Pop Culture Reference

The concept of a "transmogrifier" was first used in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip, although several other works have used the term since. In the comic, the transmogrifier is merely an upside-down cardboard box. With the power of his boyish imagination, Calvin is able to use the "machine" to change himself into various other forms, such as a tiger and elephant.
