Gnoph-keh

How Obtained

Companion obtained from item.
Item: spiral horn
Duration: 240 minutes

Behavior

Ability: Attacks foes with physical + ice, stops opponent attacks

Messages

  • Your gnoph-keh rears up and hits your opponent with one, two, three, four! Four mighty paws! Ah! Ah! Ah! It does 5-12 + 5-12 damage.
  • Your gnoph-keh charges your opponent, stabbing with its rime-encrusted (Ryme-entrusted?) horn, dealing 8-14 + 8-14 damage.
  • Your gnoph-keh batters your opponents like a cat playing with a toy mouse. It's cute, in a horrifying way, but largely ineffective.
  • Your gnoph-keh charges past your opponent, leaving a rime encrusted hole in a nearby wall.
  • Your gnoph-keh howls loudly, summoning up a gale of blinding snow, completely distracting your opponent.

If you have a sidekick that already blocks attacks then:

  • Your gnoph-keh howls loudly, but your sidekick convinces it to quiet down.

Notes

  • Both attacks do an equal base amount of physical and ice damage. Attack rate is about (53.2% ± 3.1%).
  • The howl message stuns opponent for one round (the round in which it was seen). Block rate is about (20.6% ± 2.5%).
  • Can have both an howl and an attack at the same round. If a blocking sidekick is present only the howl is affected.

References

  • Gnoph-keh are a fictional species of non-humans in the Cthulhu Mythos. They have an affinity for cold, ice and snow, and artwork portrays them as similar to very large six-legged polar bears, with a narwhal-like horn.
  • The first attack message is a reference to the character of Count von Count on the children's show Sesame Street (the Count's catch phrase is to count objects and then say, "ah, ah, ah!").
  • The second attack message is, of course, an obvious reference to Ryme.
