ZOMega
ZOMega |
---|
You are fighting the ZOMega.
Stomping through the park, you find a good-sized denizen of the place. Like most, it's from a long-extinct or legendary species. But, unless you missed the best day on legends in Elementary School, you're pretty sure none of them are supposed to come equipped with guns, rockets, rotating saw blades, guns, tail spikes, cybernetic eyes, guns, and guns for its guns.
Actually, the tail spikes might be standard issue. But there's no time to check your guide to dinosaurs and other suspiciously-kaiju-like animals! Because Doctor Zomadeus stands behind the cyborg. Energy flows from a vial she's carrying and around the creature, which she helpfully identifies as the "ZOMega."
Unfortunately, before your conversation can get any deeper into her naming conventions, she orders the ZOMega forward.
Your opponent attacks ...
Hit messages:
- The ZOMega charges you, giving you a few vicious kicks as it passes.
- The ZOMega bites you. Which seems pretty weird with all those guns available.
- The ZOMega swats you with its tail spikes.
It hits you for X damage.
Critical hit message:
Your opponent has a critical hit! It hits you for X damage.
Miss messages:
- The ZOMega tries to charge you, but you take away its... I can't, I just can't.
- The ZOMega tries to bite you, but all the guns get in the way.
- The ZOMega swings its tail spikes at you, but you know how to shake a tail.
Fumble messages:
Your foe fumbles! It takes X damage.
Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!
You gain 2500 experience.
The ZOMega falls with a crash that echoes through the park. Doctor Zomadeus looks down on the ruin of her strongest minion, raises a vial of glowing liquid with a grim expression... and hands it over to you.
You got an item: primordial ZOM
Hmmm. Whatever's in the vial, it seems like a concentrated version of what powered the ZOMs... probably strong enough to serve as Doctor Zomadeus's talisman as well. The ZOMega and its creator should both be powerless without it.
You take her back to the station, explaining the convoluted situation to Rand. He doesn't follow it entirely, but takes your word that she's responsible for the increased madness at Shiloh. With her in custody, things should be able to move a little closer to normal.
You have earned a bonus gold foil at your next retcon for your efforts.

Notes
- After each round of combat, one of the following:
- if the ZOMega fumbles:
- Doctor Zomadeus seems occupied with getting the ZOMega to right itself.
- otherwise, one of the following sets occurs:
- With a union-mandated cackle, Doctor Zomadeus commands the ZOMega to fire up the Arson Thrower. This thing has a giant flamethrower in it's mouth? That's so metal.
- if you use Bubble Sprayer, during the next round of combat:
- The bubbles clog the ZOMega's Arson Thrower, causing it to backfire. A wisp of blue smoke escapes out from the cyborg's electronics.
- otherwise:
- With its Arson Thrower engaged, the ZOMega burns down a bunch of the park and even sets you on fire for X (fire) damage.
- Doctor Zomadeus begins charging up her ZOMega's Sleep Ray. At least it's not a death ray or an ice beam.
- if you use Arson Thrower:
- The ZOMega's Sleep Ray overheats with a squeal of feedback and a wisp of blue smoke escapes out from the cyborg's electronics.
- otherwise:
- The ZOMega puts you under with its Sleep Ray, then tramples you for X damage.
- At the doctor's orders, the ZOMega starts spinning up its Riot Slicer to scratch some mad tunes.
- if you use Sleep Ray, during the next round of combat:
- The ZOMega is momentarily distracted from its Riot Slicer. Something must have gone very wrong, because a wisp of blue smoke escapes out from the cyborg's electronics.
- otherwise:
- The ZOMega catches you with the rotating blades of its Riot Slicer. Packed with a few hundred million years of being annoyed about the whole "extinction" thing, the blades deal X damage and an equally vicious psychic wound for Y (psychic) damage.
- The ZOMega opens its mouth and starts spraying out... bubbles? Well, I guess that's why they call Doctor Zomadeus a mad scientist. Who else would install a Bubble Sprayer on their prehistoric cyborg death machine?
- if you use Crushing Hand:
- You close your fist around the ZOMega's Bubble Sprayer. It must have caused an overload somewhere, because a wisp of blue smoke escapes out from the cyborg's electronics.
- otherwise:
- The ZOMega covers you in freezing bubbles, locking you in a fortress of ice for X (ice) damage.
- Doctor Zomadeus suggests her ZOMega work on its Casting Reel. You don't want to dash their hopes of cinematic success, but the reel does pull you in closer.
- if you use Spring Pusher:
- Fighting against the Casting Reel, you manage to avoid getting stepped on in the third act. You should thank your superagent.
- otherwise:
- With the Casting Reel putting you firmly underfoot, the ZOMega steps down on you for X damage.
- Doctor Zomadeus lines up a shot. But, stops to tinker with it, getting the Shooting Shot online.
- if you use are Close:
- You've gotten too close for the ZOMega to connect with its Shooting Shot. The scientist directs it to stomp off to give it more room.
- otherwise:
- The ZOMega fires its Shooting Shot. Living up to your name, the shot fires dozens of smaller shots, all of which hit you for a total of X damage.
- With a flourish, Doctor Zomadeus orders the ZOMega to grab you with its Crushing Hand. You almost laugh at its tiny little arms before a massive cybernetic limb rounds into view.
- if you use are Distant:
- You're too far from the ZOMega for it to connect with its massive Crushing Hand. The scientist orders it to rush forward, closing some of the gap.
- otherwise:
- The ZOMega brings its massive Crushing Hand to bear on you... well, to dinosaur on you for X damage.
- At the doctor's command, a Spring Pusher bursts from the ZOMega's chest, knocking you backwards.
- if you use Casting Reel:
- Rushing back towards the ZOMega and its Spring Pusher, you avoid a barrage of missles.
- otherwise:
- With the Spring Pusher giving it some distance, the ZOMega catches you with a barrage of missiles for X damage + Y damage.
- The ZOMega's electronics shriek and whirr, but Doctor Zomadeus can't seem to get any of her gadgets working amid the ruin you've left of the cyborg's circuitry.
This enemy is an animal. |
