Spading stuff

Let's get this ball rolling!

matt the sort of superpowered vigilante (#9561) has honorable right now. i also confiscated the cargo at the docks a couple times before accepting the black knight's challenge in the guild but it didn't change until then, so it might have been a combination of them, i know cheating the black knight lost honorable as matt the vigilante. Matt the vigilante

I'm currently listed as Altruist. Don't know why (yet) --Lazyfire 22:40, 18 April 2008 (MST)

Pseudoname-(Character ID #2444) I have Pragmatic, I chose the less heroic versions of the choices listed,I tried cheating against the pitch black knight, then I accepted bribes at the docks. I think I cheated about 3 or 4 times then switched to the docks. it changed after about the 3rd time i accepted a bribe. Somebody said that cheating the knight 23 times did nothing so it might have just been the docks, or maybe those affected more or something

  • It could be a combination of things. IE: Chastity [#14101] fought the knight with honor 28 times. Is a fresh character, so not tainted with any past encounters. Did not have a chance from Balanced. Does not necessarily mean anything, but ya never know. Will continue to test until I hit 50. if I hit 50 and no change, I will see about finding other, similar non-combats, and see if maybe it's accumulative from -more than one source-. --Valera
  • 42 current encounters on Chastity. Tomorrow I'll begin to play with something else, and then jump around some. --Valera

It may be a number and gets deducted/increased by x each time you do something not heroic or something heroic. When the number gets deducted/increased to another number, you get another reputation. Each choice may deduct/increase the number differently. Please also mention the amount of encounters of the choices when your reputation changed. It appears that choices you've made in the past also count towards your reputation, best if we made a clean, fresh account like Val.--chuwenhsuan

Running away might effect your rep you might even be called a chicken, just a thought.--Reaper 01:52, 19 April 2008 (MST)

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the button for all Rep adventures has the words "What do you do?", or something along those lines, or, at least, the three I've found (which counts the Knight and the Docks) have that. Makes it easy to tell if an adventure affects your rep or not, figured you might find it useful. --Therum 11:22, 19 April 2008 (MST)

Sorry, fixed something here, but wasn't able to do it 'cleanly'. Sorry for any inconvenience.--Olaf 22:25, 19 April 2008 (MST)

Accessing the index page without having logged in displays a reputation of "Vigilante". Screenshot --Usi 20:34, 20 April 2008 (MST)

Okay, I was spading a bit. It seems that taking the bribe once and cheating the black knight once will give you "Pragmatic", and confiscating the cargo once and taking up the challenge once will get you back to "Balanced". I'll try again on my multis to test it out more. —CS 10:17, 21 April 2008 (CST)

  • Okay, I used a multi I haven't used in a while. I went back and forth between taking bribes and cheating the knight. It took 3 cheatings, and 4 bribe-takings to get "Pragmatic". —CS 10:27, 21 April 2008 (CST)

just a little question: has anyone gotten a rare drop since this has been implemented? Because i thought i heard something about your rep possibly effecting your adventures, and i was wondering if it could/would effect rare adventure frequency. --Reaper 16:29, 22 April 2008 (MST)

It is said that your reputation won't affect anything. Also, we should use a brand new multi to spade things out because the choices you've done before reputation was implanted also affects you reputation.--chuwenhsuan

  • How can we know for sure that past choices affect current reputation? --CorruptShadow 05:39, 23 April 2008 (MST)
  • For sure? We can't. There is a strong likelihood though, from different people getting different results from the same actions. But for certain? No clue. --Valera
  • Oh, I wasn't sure if Ryme had said something about it or not. --CorruptShadow 09:16, 23 April 2008 (MST)

This isn't about past choices but Ryme said "There will soon be ways in which the reputations get you different results, for sure." so it sounds like reputation will do something eventually.

also the rave choice adventure seems to effect reputation differently than the docks one because i had honorable on a multi then chose to accept the loss at the rave and after a few turns of doing that my reputation changed to virtuous, then i took bribes a few times to see how it would change my reputation and got altruistic, before tried to change my reputation i was farming in the cube so it might have affected it too, i was alternating between right and center at the cube. so this isn't very reliable, but it seems like either the rave or the cube changes reputation differently than the docks also does anybody know how to get vigilante? Pseudoname

I just cheated on the knight 8 times, although I probably had adventured there previously earlier in my play, but not much. I also went to the docks and accepted the bribe five times. I had never adventured there previously. As for the rave, I don't remember what choices I had made there. I'm a relatively new player also and haven't ventured far from quest areas. I'm still balanced and have never been anything else. Gnollus Gneash 02:37 15 July 2008 (EDT)

Should we compile a list of the adventures that affect the outcome of one's reputation? --CorruptShadow 07:14, 25 April 2008 (MST)

  • Yes, I believe we should. --Valera

The character Matt the vigilante watchdog as a reputation. I got it by taking bribes while i had altruistic, but i chose to beat up the guy at the rave yesterday to try to change my reputation(unsuccessfully) so that could have affected the change too. Matt the vigilante 20:19, 26 April 2008 (MST)

Now i have altruistic again after accepting the loss at the rave so that probably did affect the change. Matt the vigilante 20:59, 26 April 2008 (MST)

Does it change at rollover? I'm pretty sure I was balanced before, just logged in and am now Altruist. - Darryl

Mine changes after I make a choice that would have changed it Matt 09:02, 27 April 2008 (MST)

Idea: Virtuous as a combination of altruist and honorable? I had altruist, accepted the black knight's challenge two or three times, and BAM virtuous. Darryl

so we seem to think that the reputations are a grid and diffrent choices move values up/down and left\right so do you think it could be something like this:
Vigilante Judicious Just
Watchdog Altruist Virtuous
Pragmatic Balanced Honorable
Pseudoname

It's probably alot like that, except balanced would be in the middle. - Satan

if its like :
_|Watchdog |Altruist |Virtuous|
_|Pragmatic |Balanced |Honorable|
_|Vigilante |Judicious |Just|
does anybody know how to go down on the grid?

I've tried this on four characters after Ryme's second hint and choosing "Rough him up to get your chips back" on the That Man's Father Is My Father's Son adventure 1-2 times and "Cheat like the dickens" on the Glove Slap, Baby adventure 1-2 times took all four characters from Balanced to Pragmatic - Bamse

Summary of Reputations

Watchdog Altruist Virtuous
Pragmatic Balanced Honorable
Vigilante Judicious Just

Combining the spade info with the in-game area descriptions, Reputation is a combination of two scales:

Honor: Cheater <--> Lawabider (shown horizontally)

  • Do you break laws and cheat, or do you obey laws and follow rules?
  • The Black Knight's Challenge can move you left on the grid (toward cheater) if you "Cheat Like the Dickens"
  • The Black Knight's Challenge can move you right on the grid (toward lawabider) if you "Accept the Challenge"
  • The Shipping Clerk can move you left on the grid (toward cheater) if you "Accept the Bribe"
  • The Shipping Clerk can move you right on the grid (toward lawabider) if you "Confiscate the Cargo"
  • That Man's Father can move you left on the grid (toward cheater) if you "Rough Him Up"
  • That Man's Father can move you right on the grid (toward lawabider) if you "Accept the Loss"
  • The Two Paths in the Prehistoric Garden can move you left on the grid (toward cheater) if you disobey the sign
  • The Two Paths in the Prehistoric Garden can move you right on the grid (toward lawabider) if you stay on the path

Selflessness: Self-Promoter <--> Communitarian (shown vertically)

  • Is your character selfish and looking out for number one, or is your character generously contributing most of your energy to others?
  • Being self-interested (the bottom row of the grid) gives you access to the League of Self Promoters.
  • Being selfless (the top row of the grid) gives you access to the Robotics Club.
  • Intermission can move you up the grid (towards communitarian) if you "Exit Stage Right"
  • Intermission can move you down the grid (towards self-promoter) if you "Exit Stage Left"
  • Pick Yer Poison can move you up the grid (towards communitarian) with the trendy Gingerette Black
  • Pick Yer Poison can move you down the grid (towards self-promoter) with the ruggedly individual Krakatoa Punch
  • Horns of Dilemma can move you up the grid (towards communitarian) if you solve gridlock
  • Horns of Dilemma can move you down the grid (towards self-promoter) if you avenge your uncle
  • I've seen one claim of an alignment change 'overnight' ... I think it would be neat if the self-interest (vertical axis) alignment changed in response to non-adventure actions: giving away lots of PPs by buffing other heroes vs using PPs on yourself, or giving away items vs receiving free items.

--Tycho Everett 07:42, 15 July 2008 (MST) Corrections... still might have some wrong. --Tycho Everett 00:36, 16 July 2008 (MST)

The game appears to only remember your most recent (most recent two?) choice for a particular adventure. Once you've "set" the toggle switch for that adventure, you need to move on to the next choice adventure location. --Tycho Everett 00:36, 16 July 2008 (MST) Corrected (Thanks MelonMAA...N). --Tycho Everett 09:09, 17 July 2008 (MST)

Reputation (dict)

Is the Reputation (dict) page necessary? At this point it seems redundant. The two articles are essentially duplicates. -- Naborr 12:33, 9 June 2008 (MST)

  • That page is the official TH page about rep this page is the wiki version with all the detailed info.(When someone starts spading the adventures.)--Reaper 15:25, 9 June 2008 (MST)
    • In case it wasn't clear: (dict) pages are not pages for definitions written by/for the blandsauce wiki community. Instead, (dict) is used precisely where Ryme chooses to place words in his official Twilight Heroes Dictionary. For those dictionary entries, a pop-up window appears with a green "Twilight Dictionary" banner, and this wiki copies that text verbatim. That's why Reputation (dict) refers the wiki-user to Reputation, where we clutter the page up with strategic details about reputation. Similarly, Chat (dict) should look different than Chat. --Tycho Everett 23:19, 9 July 2008 (MST)

New Areas

As of late July 9, certain reputations give you access to new areas. Known areas and required reputations so far:

Robotics Club (at the University) - Virtuous

--Usi 21:34, 9 July 2008 (MST) watchdog can also get to the robotics club Matt the vigilante 22:52, 9 July 2008 (MST)

Added:

League of Self Promoters in the Heavy Industry district - Reputation: Just

--Tycho Everett 23:13, 9 July 2008 (MST)

By the looks of things, Honorable gets nothing. ;_; --Missingno 13:28, 10 July 2008 (MST) Pragmatic doesn't seem to get anything either. --Aoi 19:51, 11 July 2008 (MST)

Well it looks like this is going to be a big part of TH now, so we should rework the location template to add in a "Prerequisite", and we need to have Reputation separation (a different page for each reputation, with the benefits of being said rep).--Reaper 14:15, 10 July 2008 (MST)

Robotics Club open to Altruist --Muhandes 04:18, 13 July 2008 (MST)

With the help of Doctor mojo I found what seems to be exactly how to obtain virtous reputation. I have made a page for it. But this was my very first attempt to edit something on the wiki and the page still needs lots work.

More spading

This might be a bit speculative but this is what I did:I took honorable choice until I was Honorable, but no more than that.
I then started taking honor less choices. Specifically I did That Man's Father Is My Father's Son and Glove Slap, Baby alternatively, always taking the second choice.
After one adventure I turned to Balanced, as expected. After 7 more I turned Pragmatic. That's 8 to get from one extreme to the other
Assuming you start at the middle that's 4 each side. I'll try to do the same with selflessness next, then maybe use a bandwagon --Muhandes 14:39, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Can anyone conrfirm or debunk that the castle adv. Crystal Skulls can affect reputation?--Seventhcross 18:22, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

I think the changes to the university protest has got a reputation altering feature. Fighting the protester instead of the policeman seems to push me to altruism.--Acidcat1 12:13, 14 May 2011 (PDT)

No trophy?

Looking for a trophy I visited all reputations in one day, and went to all four extreme points. Nothing I'm afraid. --Muhandes 18:14, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
