Somewhere between the completely benign laser pointer used in lectures and presentations and the laser pistol used on the battlefield, you'll find this thing. It's bright enough to be annoying and slightly painful, while still being muted enough that it's not especially dangerous. It's sort of like the paint-pellet gun of the photon world.
