The chemist decides that if you're not going to accept his mild-mannered excuses designed to cover up his nefarious operations, then he'll just have to kill you! (See, you knew he was up to no good!)

  • He throws some water at you. "That's not cool!" you reply. He throws some more, but fails to chill you.

  • The second hit and miss message reference a scene from the TV series Breaking Bad where the main character, a chemist, uses a shard of mercury fulminate which can detonate on impact. Ethanol is part of the preparation.
  • The third hit and miss message reference the adding of ammonium nitrate to water as an endothermic reaction, which absorbs heat from the environment.
<name> studiously pores over the chemist's notes and makes a bunch of progress towards puzzling them out.
  • Getting the above message 10 times (from either this opponent or the alchemist unlocks the Lab Assistant with the message:
<name> pokes around the chemist's notes, eyes widening with realization.
  • Defeating this enemy for the first time with the Lab Assistant results in the message:
<name> finds some notes on someone called Auric and gets really interested in researching him further.
<name> is still looking into Auric and contemplates your foe's notes without making any headway. It seems like just waiting for a lucky break isn't going to do it.
