An atomic clock is a clock that uses some really complicated atomic physics to measure time so accurately that they're generally only off by 0.00000001 seconds per day. A chronatomic clock, on the other hand, uses an obscure element and lots of clockwork. It's rather less accurate, but it actually looks like a clock instead of a bunch of lasers and super-cooled atomic clouds.
