code of thieves
Plural: codes of thieves
You wouldn't expect thieves (or pirates) to have a code of conduct, but they actually do. And not just when they're singing about their clothes. Even the super-serious modern "reimagined" thieves have a code of conduct. By reading this (admittedly thin) book your sidekick can learn the ins and outs of being a proper, honorable thief.

Please note, this only applies to thieves. It doesn't cover rustlers, cut throats, murderers, bounty hunters, desperados, mugs, pugs, thugs, nitwits, halfwits, dimwits, vipers, snipers, con men, bandits, muggers, bushwhackers, hornswogglers, train robbers, bank robbers, or kickers of any stripe.

Gives your sidekick understudy a new skill.

How Obtained

The Wok of Stars

When Used

First time:
Your understudy takes to the text like a fish to water. You elect not to think too deeply about their inclinations towards the law and instead trust them to keep to the code.

Your sidekick learns a role: Honorable thief.

Subsequent times:
Your understudy already knows the ins and outs of the thieves' legal system.

During the Cat and Mick-y Mouse Game quest:
Your kidnapped sidekick isn't available for training right now. The whole being kidnapped thing, you know.

  • When bought: You slip the shopkeeper 10 silver stars and, as per the code, receive your book. Well, really your sidekick's book. You shouldn't get involved in too much thievery.
