It's a strange state of affairs when a small plax chip will buy you goods at any store in town, and lump of gold--flattened and stamped with the picture of Shakespeare--isn't acceptable legal tender anywhere. It's legal to sell the tender gold for plax chips, though, and that's a good thing.
