Opening 25 boxes yielded: 32 Ivory Coast spices, 32 Gold Coast ivory, 36 Spice Coast gold. Since those are so close to equal I assume that all items are equally probable. Within each smuggler's box, results were consistent with each item being randomly chosen... Minimum 3 items, maximum 6 items, mean of 4.0 items per box.
- 40% chance (10 instances) of 3 items in the box (0x 0-0-3, 8x 0-1-2, 2x 1-1-1)
- 32% chance (8 instances) of 4 items (1x 0-1-3, 5x 0-2-2, 2x 1-1-2)
- 16% chance (4 instances) of 5 items (1x 0-1-4, 0x 0-2-3, 1x 1-1-3, 2x 1-2-2)
- 12% chance (3 instances) of 6 items (1x 0-2-4, 2x 1-2-3)
Range: 3-6 items; Mean: 4.0 items; Median: 4 items; Mode: 3 items.
