Plural: spinel ion stones
Ion stones are rocks that have extra electrons bouncing around inside. Since gravity is a good thing, and rocks with extra electrons are negative, they float. Okay, so that doesn't make any sense, but these are rocks from another dimension, so there. It's science.
This particular one is made from spinel, which is a very hard crystal. Harder than steel, in fact.
