sewer rat of unusual size

You are fighting a sewer rat of unusual size.

This is a rat that's grown so large it's almost inconceivable. As it climbs from its inconceivably large nest, there is a hungry gleam in its eyes that is almost inconceivable. Its claws are inconceivably sharp, and its teeth appear inconceivably wicked. You know, maybe I don't have such a good feel for what that word means.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • A flea from the rat bites you and gives you the plague. You get over it, but not without a lot of pain.
  • You try to disbelieve that the rat exists, but frankly, it bites you anyway.
  • The rat squeaks out a poignant rodent version of, "You killed my father, prepare to die!" before it bites you. At least you assume that's what it said; you don't really speak any rodent.

He hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! He hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • It leaps at you, but a jet of exploding sewer gas causes it to miss.
  • Using your powers of logic and reason, you prove that no rat could ever grow to this size, and thus it must not exist. The rat has a moment of existential confusion, allowing you to back off.
  • The rat swings a claw at you and scratches you so lightly it doesn't even count as a wound. You'd worry about infection, but thankfully rat scratch fever doesn't exist.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! He takes X damage.

Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!

You gain 22 experience.

You got an item: Cryptonase Cryptonase.gif (19.2 ± 2.8%)

Known resistances/weaknesses

100% weak to ice damage.
