The description was changed due to confusion over the wording.  As currently worded "Increases damage absorption" it could imply that it increases existing DA as opposed to being a separate source of reduction.  10 DA and 20% Detachment doesn't equal 12 DA.  This was demonstrated by DerMagus when he was going for the DA badge.
