Plural: pitch forks
A pitch fork (or "tuning fork") is a two-pronged fork made from a resonating metal, usually steel. Unlike a pitch pipe, it has a set tone that it makes when firmly struck against a hard surface. Since the waves generated by each tine cancel each other out, the sound is usually rather faint, unless it's pressed against something to amplify the sound.
