V.I.L.L.A.I.N. alpha

You are fighting V.I.L.L.A.I.N. alpha.

You walk up to the pillar of light, uncertain of what to do with it. Maybe throw something at it?

As you consider the possibilities it turns to face you. Or probably just projects its face on your side. You can actually see the scanlines. Anyway, you're fighting a huge pillar of light that doesn't seem happy to see you.

On the bright side, the Variable Input Limitless Logic Artificial Intelligence Node still seems to be in alpha, so it's probably way less dangerous than the version that... required the creation of leagues to fight it.

So this still might be a problem.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • It starts deleting your collection of cute kitten pics. For science. The monster! (psychic) damage
  • It hexes you. Actually, it just converts everything to hex, then hits you while you're trying to carry the D.
  • It drops a floating point on your head. Ow!

It hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! It hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • It starts deleting your collection of cute kitten pics. Which is good. Because everyone knows the wave of the future is adorable hedgehog pictures.
  • It tries to convert you to hex, but you already know how to count to A.
  • It tries to drop a floating point on your head, but it rounds improperly. It still can't explain how you weld metal to a song, though.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! It takes X damage.

Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!

You gain 500 experience.

You got an item: retro viral code Retroviralcode.gif (Guaranteed Drop)
You got an item: ancient quarter chip Ancientquarterchip.gif (Guaranteed Drop)
You got an item: alpha wolf shirt Alphawolfshirt.gif (Guaranteed Drop)

The alpha ends as alphas usually do, with a gigantic explosion and a smoking crater. Your bitmap fragments under the stress of trying to keep up with the changing terrain.

But the future is safe! Well... the presen... actually, you know, you're not sure if he'll really go away with this whole "fighting the past" thing.

Known resistances/weaknesses

25% resistant to fire damage.

Notes

  • This foe is virtually impossible to defeat unless you damage it's defenses. To do this, you need to use ancient bombes:
First 5 times you use the ancient bombe:
You set up V.I.L.L.A.I.N. the bombe, blowing a massive hole in its shields.
6th time you use the ancient bombe, it'll defeat the foe with the special message:
You find an exhaust port and set up V.I.L.L.A.I.N. the bombe, resulting in a massive explosion that deals 2000-3000 damage and blows you into next week... which is ironically still years ago.
  • Blue lawn darts also work, one being enough to commpletely remove the foe's special defenses with the message:
Your dart crashes through V.I.L.L.A.I.N.'s primitive shields, leaving nothing standing.
  • Every time you attack this foe, it'll strike back with one of the following messages:
V.I.L.L.A.I.N.'s <status> firewall burns you for X (fire) damage.
V.I.L.L.A.I.N.'s <status> defenses shock and awe you for X (electric) damage.
V.I.L.L.A.I.N.'s <status> defenses glitch, dumping a core on you for X damage.
  • If you don't damage the foe in the current round and it's defenses still stand it'll display the message:
V.I.L.L.A.I.N.'s <status> defenses orbit it serenely.
  • The damage of the strikeback depends on how much damage you did this round and the <status>:
pristine - damage you would have dealt if there were no special defenses
punctured - 4 times you damage
cracked - 3/2 times your damage
damaged - 2/3 times your damage
unstable - 1/4 times your damage
further weakening suppresses the strikeback, changing it to the following message:
The remains of obliterated defenses ring V.I.L.L.A.I.N.

Past the spinning shields, you can see an exhaust port about the size of a wharf rat. They'd better close that up before release.
  • The defense status will be carried to the next encounter if you fail to defeat it.
  • Upon victory, one ancient bitmap is destroyed.

  • Refers to the Master Control Program (MCP) in the movie Tron.
