This is armor that protects via ablation. I mean, what did you expect?
Okay, okay, okay. You'll be pleased to know that this armor uses a handwavium substructure made from a phlebotinum matrix to allow for almost instantaneous regeneration, which means you don't have to replace it every time someone shoots it.
