You walk through the slums, alert for danger. Everything is quiet ... too quiet. At first you think maybe that's a sign something is about to happen, but the longer the silence goes on, you decide maybe there's just something good on TV right now. What do you feel like doing?
Options:
- See if anything is going on at the park
- Spend some time exploring back alleys
- Forget it, let's play pool!

If you chose See if anything is going on at the park:
Down Low; Too Slow
You start walking toward the run-down park in the center of the slums, but then see a suspicious shadowy figure lurking in a back alley. You approach to investigate, but the figure runs away. A lengthy pursuit takes you down into an abandoned subway tunnel, where you lose the person you were following in the dark. On your way back to the surface, you find an item.
You got an item: lead pipe
If you chose Spend some time exploring back alleys:
It Would Be Easier with Graph Paper
With nothing better to do, you spend some time wandering through the gritty back alleys of the slums. Nothing really interesting happens, but now you know a heck of a lot more about the neighborhood layout.
You gain 12-19 experience.
If you chose Forget it, let's play pool!:
Playing Cool Playing Pool
As you investigate a particularly seedy bar, one of the locals challenges you to a pool match. He's pretty drunk, though, and you win easily. You grab your chips and skedaddle before things have a chance to get ugly.
