Got the onesie again today following the same strategy except for the fact that my first air unit had flying ability so it seems that at least for those starting in the air is not a problem. Also, I saw at least 2 confusion messages so I guess those are unrelated to the trigger. On my main's league, we believe we followed the strategy correctly but it didn't drop. Either its not a guaranteed drop (which i doubt once the conditions are met), we did something wrong or my alts have been following some kind of requirement by default I haven't noticed :/ [[User:Patojonas|Patojonas]] ([[User talk:Patojonas|talk]]) 15:09, 18 November 2012 (PST) |

Here's what I did, might work some other way, I'm not sure about what it is keeping track:
First Okarin got on a chopper and then strafing 6 times, took 2 turns I think. Then Reigna, from the ground, hit it for the damage specified above. Then Aewyre strafing 6 times. Then Feathergod, like Reigna hit twice for about 1500 damage. Then Aewyre strafinged 5 times. Then Feathergod hit until I saw the "unsteady walk" pace. Then Aewyre dealt 4 strafings and back to Feathergod who killed it.
Again, I dunno what does it track, but I noticed that the first hit from the ground after strafing those numbers had a special attack with little or no damage. Also, I didn't see any confusion messages but I didn't pay attention while strafing. Hopefully if Cristiona's theory works she might be able to tell what is going on. Managed to get a second onesie by replicating the above strategy, records are:
Minigun Strafings:
Okarin fired 19 and Aewyre fired 6.
Damage:
Feathergod dealt 3684, Reigna dealt 3051, Okarin dealt 2706, and Aewyre dealt 743
So this is what I think is needed:
- First, make sure that everyone that fights the orwhal starts the fight with the ground image (no flying nor superjump, get an hot rodimus if you really want range 5).
- Now, to the strategy, you'll want to make the orwhal change her focus every time you switch with another player. The attention the orwhal is giving you can be checked in the special attack messages, unless those messages damage you, you still don't have it.
- Have the first strafing player (air unit) straf for at least 6 times, that should be enough to draw her attention, if not keep strafing until you get it, 6 has been enough for me.
- Then have a ground player(ground unit) deal damage until the fight ends, my alts are high level so with a furnace 1 turn is enough for ~3000 damage. in any case, have the ground player attack until the end of the turn where the orwhal give you her attention.
- Here you switch to a second air unit and straf until you get her attention.
- Then switch to a second ground unit that does the same as the second.
In my alts at this point I keep switching between the 2nd air and 2nd ground units, as described in my last entry.
The key points I've been able to determine are always starting from the ground and switching the orwhal's attention back and forth between air and ground units. This'll mean the ground units can't contribute for the ultrataffy. Probably bigger leagues could employ more air units instead of just those 2.
I believe the whole thing is related to the Orwhal's confusion messages (didn't get any when succeding in making the onesie drop), but can't figure their trigger. Patojonas 11:27, 17 November 2012 (PST)
