Captain Buzzkill

You are fighting Captain Buzzkill.

In the center of the park you find the nemesis of happiness, Captain Buzzkill. He gazes at you with the sourest of expressions on his face as you approach.

Behind him, a complex device whirs and puffs away, drawing all the happiness out the park and the surrounding blocks.

Fighting against the pull of his aura of anger, you attempt to flash a smile. It trembles on your lips and fades away, but the Captain sees, and frowns all the harder. Still trying to resist, you hum a little Bob Marley to yourself, and prepare to engage the Captain in battle.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

  • He tries to kill your buzz, but misses and punches you in the face instead.
  • You try not to worry and to be happy, but the pull of his anger is too great. (psychic) damage
  • Like any good contraption, Buzzkill's psychic vacuum fires off random arcs of electricity. It's only natural you'll get hit by them from time to time. (electric) damage

He hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! He hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

  • He punches you right in the buzz! Which, being an ephemeral concept, seems basically unharmed.
  • You try not to worry and to be happy, warding off the worst of his anger.
  • Like any good contraption, Buzzkill's psychic vacuum fires off random arcs of electricity. It's only natural Buzzkill gets hit by them from time to time, but it seems he's become immune.

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! He takes X damage.

Victory! You beat up your foe and win the combat!

You gain (Level*11) experience.

You got an item: Buzzkill coffee Buzzkillcoffee.gif (100

  • Or, on November 25, 2016:%)

You got an item: Black Frayday blend Blackfraydayblend.gif (Guaranteed Drop)

As soon as the captain goes down, you turn your attention to the malevolent device he'd been protecting. Raising your hands high overhead, you prepare to smash them down on the console. But then you notice a "Deactivate" switch and decide to just flip that instead.

With a deepening hum and then a hiss, the machinery shuts down and vents a strange mist throughout the park. Waves of happiness wash over you as the mist dissipates into the city--apparently the stolen psychic energy was just being contained instead of destroyed, and now it's been unleashed back to the city it was stolen from.

You gain an effect: Overjoyed. (Added for 120 minutes.)

You get an adrenaline rush for shutting down the machine!
