This merit badge is a reference to a common phrase: "I've got some beach front property in Kansas to sell you." Or other variations thereof. The phrase is usually used when referring to someone's gullibility. Like spending a lot of money on something worthless. Or in this case, a lot of chips on just a merit badge. Also references to "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon.
