bungee lasso
Plural: bungee lassos
Sometimes you just want to take another stab at an opponent, either because the first fight was so much fun, or because you didn't quite get all you needed out of them. This bungee lasso is just the trick. Let them think they're getting away, and then bring them right back.

When Used in Combat

When successful:

You loop the lasso around your opponent. In the heat of the fight they don't seem to care much since the stretchy bungee still gives them full range of motion. (Added for current turn duration + 1 minute.)

Adds effect: Total Recall

On the next adventure you fight the same foe again, preceded by the message:

You yank on the bungee lasso and bring your opponent back for another round.

When unsuccessful (see notes)):

You try to lasso your opponent, but they're too wily to be caught by a rope, even a stretchy rope with a funny name.

Notes

  • You get to fight the same foe on the next adventure, no matter how much in-game time passed (e.g. by resting) (unverified).
  • However, the effect is cleared by rollover, so the item is wasted if used on one's last turn for the day (unverified).
  • More than one can be used on the same foe. However, although this increases the duration of the effect, it does not affect anything else (the foe is not replicated twice) (unverified).
  • The Total Recall effect only serves as a reminder. Replication does not depend on the effect being active, nor does replication occur when the effect is on without using the item (e.g. by multiple uses or leftover time from previous foes).
  • Fails on the same foes on which deja voodoo doll fails. See details there.
  • The item is not consumed when it fails.
