Say, Isn't that Grand?
Walking through the tunnels, you encounter a sandy-haired man who appears to be very busy wrapping some kind of pape around a type--uh, tape around a pipe. He smiles broadly as you approach and says, "It's mice to neat you. Uh, I mean, it's a measure to pleat you. Well, that is ... hi!"
He continues. "I'm the Bind Mender. I mend things by binding them. There's a lot of broken stuff down here, as you can see, so I'm always busy."
You explain that you're trying to track down the source of the confusingness, and ask the Bind Mender if he can help.
"Well, I'm not really mood with gaps--uh, good with maps--so I'm never really sure where I am. With so much stuff to bind, it doesn't matter where I go, so I don't pay attention. I new dough--er, do know--a few secrets about the tunnels, though. First, I know there's a locked-off section, which probably has what you want. There are little password terminals everywhere which you can use to unlock the area." He gets really quiet and leans in conspiratorily. "I don't lair day it out soud--excuse me, dare say it out loud--but this here is the password." He reaches into a pocket and hands you a little plastic bauble filled with some kind of sand.
You got an item: gray sand
"Second, I can tell you that you'll need three types of sand before this is over. This say grand--uh, gray sand--is one of them, but the other two you'll have to find for yourself." With that he starts humming to himself and goes back to work, wrapping more tape around a broken pipe.
What an odd character, you think, as you walk on down the maze.
