You are fighting the green moled.

Humans try to scare each other with stories of ex-humans rising from the grave under the control of viruses or comets or plans from outer space. Mole people, it turns out, don't have any problems with that.

Instead, they recruit the moled to join the army, meet interesting people, and slather them in green slime.
Your opponent attacks ...

Hit messages:

• The moled drops some green slime on you. It eats through... well, just about everything. (acid) damage
• The moled reaches towards you, moaning "veeeeeeeeins." It bowls you over on its way to dig up some promising metal deposits.
• You try to figure out if the green moled is attacking you because it hates all life or because it hates all humans. It's too busy gnawing on your head to elaborate.

It hits you for X damage.

Critical hit message:

Your opponent has a critical hit! It hits you for X damage.

Miss messages:

• The moled drops some green slime on you, but you take enough time arguing that the slime should have dissolved the moled already that everyone forgets you were about to get eaten alive.
• The moled reaches towards you, moaning "veeeeeeeeins." You get out of its way while it rushes off to harvest some promising metal deposits.
• You try to figure out if the green moled is attacking you because it hates all life or because it hates all humans. It stops for a moment and explains its place in mole person society for you. Expository!

Fumble messages:

Your foe fumbles! It takes X damage.

If one of the first four to be defeated:
The mole hangs back, waiting for an opportunity to come back for more.

Notes

• After every round of combat, the green moled does damage with the following message:

Bits of the ex-mole drop off, stinking up the place and burning into you for X (acid) damage.

• Sometimes, at the end of a combat round, if you also defeated the golden mole:

The golden mole comes around for another pass, showering you with sparks for X (electric) damage damage.

• Sometimes, at the end of a combat round, if you also defeated the thin blue mole:

The thin blue mole stares at you from the sidelines, its icy gaze dealing you X (ice) damage and giving you a serious case of the jibbilies.

• Sometimes, at the end of a combat round, if you also defeated the pink mole rat:

The less said about how the pink mole rat ran past and dealt you X (psychic) damage damage, the better.

• Sometimes, at the end of a combat round, if you also defeated the green moled:

The green moled spits a torrent of acid at you. Eugh! X (acid) damageand eugh!

• Sometimes, at the end of a combat round, if you also defeated the red mole:

The red mole lobs a series of bombs at you from the sidelines, blowing you to X (fire) damage damage of smithereens.
