ectoplasmic container
Plural: ectoplasmic containers
Not to be confused with phlogiston, luminiferous aether, or the Odic force; nor to be confused with the outer part of the cytoplasm, a British radio show, or some crazy thing involving supersymmetric field theories. No, this is your classical ectoplasm, sometimes referred to as "ghost snot". Whenever something from the spirit world manifests in the real world, some of this stuff is made. Or brought over. The mechanics are a little vague. Anyway, this stuff normally dissolves or evaporates, but thanks to the work of Baron von Wissenschaft back in 1736, enterprising businessmen have been able to stabilize ectoplasm for everyday use. Well, mostly stabilize.
When removed from its special containment box, the ectoplasm will settle on a suitable form for its owner to use. Care should be taken, though, because it's rather fragile and any violent action will probably result in dissolution. Have no worry, though; it'll gather itself back up into a new form. It's like having five tchotchkes in one!
